Megan was very friendly from the get go and very patient with us as we test drove 3 different vehicles and looked at many more all while keeping our 6 month old happy. The sales staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, especially Jackie Costa who let me know when certain vehicles came in that fit my criteria and also Josh Beavers who helped with a couple test-drives when Jackie was unavailable. Ashley Hosey was our Finance delivery rep and she explained every aspect of the papers we were signing as she went over each form with us. Overall great experience. I would and have recommended friends and family to shop at Shelor before going somewhere else because of the huge inventory of new and used vehicles they have and the lnowledgeable sales staff as well. My wife and I had been looking for a new vehicle to replace our family van which was essentially falling apart and would cost more to fix than it was worth. We had been looking various places but ended up at Shelor...again. I say again because over the past 10 years we have purchased 3 vehicles and they have all been at Shelor. It is quite a distance away from our house, but the experience and price have always been well worth it. I submitted an inquiry online to get the trade in price of the van and saw a few used vehicles that we liked online. I received an email from Richie Law later that day, which was actually great because I like to be able to respond on my own time and an unplanned phone call is just rude and a little bit high pressure if you ask me. We arrived and met Richie and he told us where the vehicle we were looking at was located. He was going to drive us, but my wife and I like to look on our own. We are grown ups and do not need a salesman "tailing" us the entire time. I told Richie that we are familiar with the lot and that we would go and look and if we needed anything we would call him. He was perfectly fine with that and gave me his card that had his cell phone number on it. We were not impressed with the trailblazer that we initially went to look at, but just down the lot my wife saw an 06 Dodge Durango that we both fell in love with. It was used, but the vehicle was in great shape. The mileage was slightly high, but the price was phenomenal for this vehicle, even with the miles. We called Richie and he came over with the keys and while my wife was checking it out, he and I talked. I was straight up with him about our situation and what we were looking for. Told him that our credit was messed up awhile ago but that we were rebuilding slowly. We told him that we wanted the payments to be under $200 and we went into the office to attempt to work something out. Let me backup a minute and talk about Richie. Probably one of the best car salesmen we have ever dealt with. He was really laid back and professional at the same time. There was absolutely never any pressure whatsoever and in some ways we were questioning whether or not he was even a car salesman...but only because he was so different (in a good way) than most others we have ever dealt with before. He always listened to our needs and accommodated as necessary. This day happened to be during the week and we had to leave at 4:00 PM to make it back home in time to pick up our daughter from preschool. He was very respectful of this and came up with a plan to do everything that we needed to do (as far as applying for credit and getting the van appraised, etc.) to get the process started. He rushed as fast as he could to get us out by 4:00 and we did. He said he would call us after he heard back from the finance department and he called us back literally about 7 minutes after we left the dealership to tell us that we got approved. However, the finance company wanted to push this through before the end of the month to meet their quota. Fine by us except that it was May 30th and there was only one more day in the month. There was no way that I could make it back up there the next day. No problem Richie said - he actually drove the 45 minutes to my work and we completed the paperwork there. Now I know there was certainly something in it for him; however, I just find this flexibility uncommon nowadays. Besides that, it was not a huge sale for him so he could have taken the gamble, told us to make it up there or no deal, and hope someone else would come in a he could get another sale. At Shelor, this is an absolute reality so he really did go out of his way as far as I am concerned. The plan then was to drive up on Saturday to pick the vehicle up and pay the rest of the down payment, get the tags switched, etc. We were there for about an hour and 15 minutes and we were done - on our way home with our shiny new (to us at least) Durango and my wife loves it. Shelor has top notch customer service, especially for the first timer. They generally take you around their massive campus and show you all the places that they have (i.e. where the service department is, fiance department, etc.). However, after the second purchase, we didn't feel like we needed this tour and that it would be a waste of time. All I simply had to do was tell him that and there were no issues. He didn't even suggest it after that. All in all, I would highly recommend Shelor to anyone looking for a new or used vehicle. In fact, I always do. More than likely in the future, we will skip wasting any time at any of the other dealers around and head straight to Shelor since that is where we always end up anyway. More
