This was a cash Buyer beware! We started to purchase a Scion from this dealer. On the front end they were friendly and everything seemed smooth. This was a cash deal so once we wrote the check we were ready to take the car and go. But then they sent us to an office for "paperwork". We were a little puzzled as we were not financing the car so we didn't understand why we were suddenly and without any warning presented with a contract to sign. This contract required, among other things, that we waive our rights to any subsequent legal action against the dealership, forced us to agree to arbitration and basically asked us to sign away our consumer rights. When we told them we were not willing to sign the agreement, they said "no deal". Needless to say, we did not purchase the vehicle. They also told us that Scion used a fixed price model and that no discounting could be done on any Scion, which turned out not to be true. We found 2 other dealers who were willing to negotiate on the price of the car. If you are buying a Toyota product in Maryland, I recommend trying Antwerpen Toyota. I only wish we'd gone there sooner. More
After visiting other dealerships, Carmax Toyota in Laurel was a refreshing surprise. The service and price were both great, and there was no haggling or pushiness on the part of the sales representatives. was a refreshing surprise. Took my Wife's 2007 RAV4 in for service for the driver side windshield wiper arm. The arm had been struck by snow the flew off of another drivers car. The insurance deductable would have been $250.00 to side windshield wiper arm. The arm had been struck by snow the flew off of another drivers car. The insurance deductable would have been $250.00 to fix it. So I took it to Carmax and lied, yep, I told them that it just stopped working. I told the service writer the story and he came out about a half an hour after I gave him the truck and said "we can't figure out what exactly caused the problem, so we are going to fix it under warranty" Nice! I thought. While waiting for the truck to get fixed, I over heard a conversations between techs and service writers and from those alone could tell how honest they are. I would not want to take my Toyota to any other service center. More
My family has purchased five cars over 10 years from Carmax and I can say that we have never had a bad experience. Laurel Toyota is a new car dealership that is part of CarMax. In my view CarMax must be a professional customer fleecing operation. I made a deal over the internet. Vehicle was missing cruise control, CarMax. In my view CarMax must be a professional customer fleecing operation. I made a deal over the internet. Vehicle was missing cruise control, but cruise control was part of the package I was paying for. Dealer blamed the factory but would only offer a $70 option to compensate for missing cruise control. They clearly tried to take advantage of the situation. Salesman appeared to be honest, but can't say that about supervisor or upper management. Follow up contact got nothing but a rude customer service representation. AVIOD THIS DEALERSHIP More
