My wife and I recently decided to purchase a new vehicle and were interested in the Subaru Outback. We test drove at Ultimate Subaru in Fredericksburg and were assisted by Earl. Earl was knowledgeable and helpful and friendly, but what most impressed us was the laid-back, no-pressure vibe we got. After showing us the vehicle, he let us test drive by ourselves so we could get our own impressions. After some other test drives elsewhere, we decided on the Outback and a specific trim level and options. We e-mailed several dealers for quotes. Although Ultimate Subaru did not give us the lowest quote, we went there anyway because we had had a good experience before, and when we asked, Earl was able to essentially price-match the quote we showed him. We had an unfortunate setback in that Subaru stopped accepting custom orders two days before we went in to order our Outback, and our specific set of desired options was not common, but Earl worked hard to track down Outbacks from other dealers on the east coast that were close to what we wanted, and ultimately was able to trade with another dealership to obtain a close match for us. When the car was delivered to Ultimate, our purchase experience went smoothly and as before, was low-key and low-stress. The only "upsell" we were offered was an extended warranty. We negotiated our trade-in after the main purchase and received the price we requested for our old vehicle (an 11 year old Saturn). More

Skip the service department simply horrible and a poor experience to have work done. They only have 2 bays available to do the work and your car will sit for hours before getting the work done. I took my vehicle in for some relatively minor service items..ie oil change, replace door lock, and check and flush transmission, Also I requested an A/c charge. Got vehicle back 5 days later. At no time items..ie oil change, replace door lock, and check and flush transmission, Also I requested an A/c charge. Got vehicle back 5 days later. At no time did my service advisor keep me informed and was completely indifferent to what I wanted.. Oh yea, and after telling him 3 times to charge A/C as well as writing it down on initial drop, it was never done when I picked vehicle up, after 5 days for this job? I am done with this dealership and there so called "service" department More
Sales manager and financing office were deceptive. Failed to show me two required pieces of financial paperwork that showed add-ins to the final price. All fluids were not filled prior to delivery. Deceptive to show me two required pieces of financial paperwork that showed add-ins to the final price. All fluids were not filled prior to delivery. Deceptive on service coverage. Part of purchase was installation of options. They wrote out and signed a separate paper that was to serve as teh agreement. They did not want to use the standard form for additional service as "this is for problems that have to be corrected and not additional work promised." Then, when I bring it back for the options to be installed, they say they have no agreement as the signed paper is not on the required form. More
The sales manager used deception and "out the door" pricing to screw me out $1,100 worth of accessories for my $30,000 Impreza WRX. The dealer promised to provide the missing accessories in retur door" pricing to screw me out $1,100 worth of accessories for my $30,000 Impreza WRX. The dealer promised to provide the missing accessories in return for all positive feedback on the Subaru corporate post-sales customer survey. The dealer then put me off for 3 full months, ignoring phone calls and making excuses until I finally filed a complaint with Subaru corporate, who said because of the "out the door" pricing, there was nothing they could do. The owner of the dealership never returned any of my calls. This dealership is deceptive and the sales manager is not trustworthy. If you go there, get everything in writing, DO NOT fall for the "out the door" pricing gimmick. Also, The car had to go into service to get the passive arming function of the alarm disabled and it took 3 seperate visits to the service department to get it done right. I would avoid this dealership like the plague for both sales and service. More
