terrible experience. listen to your customer!!!!!!!!!!!!! I made an appointment with Ted at 5pm on a weekday. I had my pre-approval draft of cash in hand from my credit union and knew exactly what vehicle I w I made an appointment with Ted at 5pm on a weekday. I had my pre-approval draft of cash in hand from my credit union and knew exactly what vehicle I wanted. After plenty of research, I knew the exact options I wanted on the exact model I wanted. the only unknown factor for me was the color of the interior and I wanted to sit in a couple different colors and see the difference between the light and dark leather packages and how it looked with the center console and other features. So I enter the dealership and the front desk brings me over to the waiting area and offers water. so far so good. after around 10 minutes of waiting, a young guy comes out (I think his last name was rodriguez but I'm not 100% on his first name) and says he will be getting some paperwork ready for me. I figure he is Ted's assistant and is trying to get things ready so I roll with it. this kid proceeds to ask us a million ridiculous questions. who will be driving the car? that's for the insurance company, what do you care? I told you already I am not interested in a used car. I'm not interested in leasing. I'm not interested in anything else you have to offer. I want a 2017 ford escape, 1.5L turbo engine, the navigation, and the moonroof. no other options. just bring me to a couple different ones (with the keys so we can sit in them) and i'll pick the one I want to buy. this couldn't be easier for you. he asks more and more questions and I grow tired of repeating myself but I just assume he is new and continue to repeat that we need to see the interior of the red, white, and dark grey escape. make sure the red or the white has light leather so we can compare. FINALLY he agrees to let us outside to see the cars. he brings paperwork back a couple times to make sure he's getting the right stuff in order for us. we are excited to move forward. we get out there and he starts trying to show us different cars and says oh that's a black one over there and oh here's a white one you can look at. I walk to the door and it's locked. I ask him to unlock it and he says he doesn't have any keys and the inventory is on a different lot. I'm confused and he proceeds to tell me I can look at the colors on all the cars from here and they are all the same not to worry about it. I try to explain that I won't know the color I want until I sit in it and see how it interacts with the interior and that I need to physically go in the vehicles. he gets agitated and says it would be a lot of effort to bring 3 cars over to this lot. I tell him we could just go to that lot and bring the keys... no need to move the cars. so he says okay he will go get the keys and bring us to that lot. he comes back a couple minutes later and we are waiting in the parking lot for him. he says from the driver's seat that we can hop in and he will drive us through the lot. if there's anything we are interested in seeing, he will come back with us and get a key. I'm FURIOUS! how many times do I have to tell you. I need to sit in a red, a white, and a dark grey 2017 ford escape. one of those 3 needs to have light leather. I came with the money, the options, the pricing, with everything in hand and this could have been a very quick sale for him. but once he yet again refused to bring us some xxxx keys? I shut the door and walked away. I knew at that point I would never be comfortable giving him our money. I went to another dealership to buy the car. Of course I had to wait 10 minutes because some employee blocked my car in so I couldn't escape. TERRIBLE experience. beautiful car. glad I bought it somewhere else and had a much better experience (thank you Monaco in Glastonbury). here's some tips for idiotic car salesmen. 1- STOP trying to sell something. help people find what they want. there's plenty of options out there and people can easily go to another location that treats them better. 2- Don't think about THIS sale. better to make a little money on several sales than it is to run people out who could be repeat customers and will refer others to you, compounding profits in future. 3- LISTEN to your customer. if someone knows the vehicle they want with all the options???? don't waste your time or their time by asking idiotic questions and trying to push the conversation towards another option. take care of the customer and not yourself. We were nicely greeted by the front staff and introduced to our sales person Bill Reed. Bill worked with us to help us find the best car, and was more than helpful the whole process. Bill was extremely professional and knowledgeable about the different cars we looked at and knew exactly what we were looking for. He even knew the history of the certified Lincoln we purchased as he had sold it to the first owner as a new car. Within a short time, we had agreed on a great price, and Bill even offered to fix a minor imperfection with the car for free, and provided some touch up paint. My family and I would highly recommend Bill, as well as Shaker Family Ford/Lincoln for your next purchase. More
