I have to admit, when it came time to buy a new car for my wife I was more than hesitant at first to deal with this dealership. The reason is because it is owned by Worden Martin. I have bought MANY cars o my wife I was more than hesitant at first to deal with this dealership. The reason is because it is owned by Worden Martin. I have bought MANY cars over the years from Worden Martin and their other dealerships (Ford City, Nissan, Carmart and Vermilion Chevrolet). I can't say I've ever had a really bad experience with any of the Sales persons, but the Service Departments at these other dealerships are the worst! By far the worst experience I've ever had with a service department was at the original Worden Martin dealership, but I've had issues at Ford and Nissan as well. As a result, I would purchase the cars, and never come back except for warranty issues or recalls. I went out of town or to independent shops. I figured I'd have to do the same with Subaru of Champaign County as well. All other Worden Martin dealerships need to look at their own Subaru Dealership on how to treat a customer! Cary Woolard was my salesman. He is funny, friendly and professional. Kelly Wetherall is the Sales Manager, and he too was enjoyable to deal with. I'm sure I could have gotten a better price from another Subaru Dealership up north, but I didn't want to drive to Chicago 5 or 6 times to save $2000.00 dollars. The finance person (I'm sorry, I have forgotten her name!) was very informative and helpful getting financing. I think the best experience overall has been with the Service Dept. Alan Myers is my service guy, and I have never felt the high-pressure sales tactics or just flat-out rude arrogance I have experienced at Worden Martin's other service departments. Alan and Carleen are always friendly, very helpful and knowledgeable. Their prices are on the high side-typical of any dealership, but I feel much better paying those prices for the service I get. I am so happy with them, I now bring my truck and my daughter's car to them for service too. My wife has driven the Subaru for more than a year now, and she says she won't ever own another brand of car. More
I recently moved into the area and had to choose from three dealerships in the area. Yelp ruled one out immediately. Another wasn't a Subaru Stellar Performer. I decided to try Subaru of Champaign County three dealerships in the area. Yelp ruled one out immediately. Another wasn't a Subaru Stellar Performer. I decided to try Subaru of Champaign County despite a couple of negative Yelp reviews back from '08 under their corporate name Worden-Martin Subaru. I went in for a 60,000 mile tune up, a recall and a possible transmission problem on my Forester XT. I brought in Subaru's maintenance schedule in case there would be any debate about what maintenance was required. I was on guard a bit, because over the telephone, they mentioned that they have "good", "better" and "best" tiers of service. As it turned out, I was being overly cautious. Alan went over the recommended maintenance and gave me a detailed price list upfront broken out by task. I also opted for some of the "better" and "best" services that I had planned to get, but it was all low pressure and courteous. The real test was the transmission and/or turbo problem that I had started experiencing. They worked the problem until finally contacting Subaru to figure out the solution. I was impressed with their tenacity, since that took quite a bit of time after the other work was completed. I was pleasantly surprised to find "No Charge" by that item presumably because they just had to reprogram the transmission. The waiting area at Subaru of Champaign County is pleasant and nicely stocked with drinks and free WiFi. Although I left my car there most of the day, I was onsite for the last couple of hours. During that time, I had to get something from my car. The garage itself was tidy and professional without any of the screwing around that you sometimes encounter. Lastly, I rated their price as 3 (OK). They aren't the cheapest garage for sure, but I was very satisfied with the overall quality. Alan even applied a coupon to my total which saved me $100. For a comprehensive tune up, I paid just over $800. I wasn't able to find an independent shop in this area specializing in Subarus, so it was worth it to pay a bit more for a competent shop. As far as I can tell, SoCC fixed my transmission problem on their first attempt. If anything changes, I will update this review, but so far so good. More
