Greetings, My regrets for the comments you submitted in regards to your experience at David Maus Toyota. Just so that my understanding is clear, I am under the impression that requested USAA pricing on a Base FJ cruiser which we did not have in stock. Since we did not have a base FJ in stock you inquired about an in-stock FJ which was considerably upgraded from a base model. The sales representative mentioned that due to low inventory, we did not anticipate receiving any base models in the near future. He added that unfortunately we could not sell a limited Toyota FJ Cruiser for the price of a base model. I do not have a record of you meeting with a member of our finance department- we maintain a log of all meetings with our finance department. We would be glad to have you return and review this unfortunate incident. Please let me know if your account differs from the research gathered in this incident. Thanks again for giving us the opportunity to earn your business.

It does differ in that I took into account the additional options and added them to the worksheet but then was told that there was little motivation or need for the dealer to move off of the price given to me due to shortage of FJ Cruisers and high demand. Unless there is a willingness to work towards a fair market value on the vehicle then there is little reason to meet again.

Additionally, it was not a base model that I had researched but rather one that included racks, side steps, tow package and convenience package - the vehicle in question had an additional package and some upgrades (again, which I took into consideration). Still, the offer I made was derived from Edmunds.com, USAA and Consumer Reports and all came in with a few $100 of each other so I do not think all of their numbers were inaccurate - despite what the salesman implied. My offer was invoice plus 4% - that included the added package and upgrades.
