We went to David Maus Toyota to look at an auto Camry XLE to replace my current 5-speed (wrist injury). I made it clear to them that I was also considering an Accord EX-L but wanted to give the Camry a chanc to replace my current 5-speed (wrist injury). I made it clear to them that I was also considering an Accord EX-L but wanted to give the Camry a chance since for me it was nearly a wash. They took the keys for our trade and came back with unacceptable values for the trade and refused to budge on the Camry. I took this as a sign that I should leave and go next door to buy the Accord. They refused to give our keys back for 15 minutes while they kept coming back with slightly lower but still too high of an offer. We finally got the keys back and promptly went over to Courtesey Honda and bought that Accord with no issues whatsoever. I had bought a 2003 Tacoma from David Maus before and that was a pleasurable experience but it seems they have failed to maintain their good business practices. More
I just drove 30 miles (one way) to go to this dealership, to test out "doing whatever it takes to earn YOUR business" or "price and payment in 15 minutes" or "empower all of our employees" or "we never want to test out "doing whatever it takes to earn YOUR business" or "price and payment in 15 minutes" or "empower all of our employees" or "we never want to lose your business over price" I set up my appointment through chat on the internet. The ONLY reason I was willing to give a 3 for friendliness and customer service is because of Keel Herrerra. He has a big future in sales....at another company. He never once seemed fake or acted like he yearned for my money, he was well mannered and playful with my very active son and involved him. That's about where it stopped. Keel ended up dealing with a finance guy named Steve. Keel had to ask several times about other options I may have for getting a car. The credit was mediocre at best (although plenty good at other dealerships) and my trade-in was $1500 less than what was offered at other dealerships. The price on the car would not budge. The selection of the brand of car was very limited. Steve came out and simply told me what I wanted was not within his ability (on their smallest, most stripped vehicle) and he would looking at nearly twice as much per month as expected. Although, I must add, other dealerships played with numbers and got me close. Steve had that "toyota elitest" attitude. My favorite was his closing comment "when something changes for YOU give us a call" APPARENTLY, WHATEVER IT TAKES TO EARN MY BUSINESS MEANS SOMETHING MUST CHANGE FOR ME. He in no way was empowered, obviously, Keel Herrerra was not empowered. Keep in mind folks, those slogans you hear every night on Central FL television are just that SLOGANS they mean nothing. Honestly, if they did not make such high claims I wouldn't have expected as much and not be as aggravated I drove so far to get there. But, the owner tosses out that quirky dorky smile, points his two fingers at us and tell us "our goal is to never lose your business over price". Its not true. They are like every other car dealership, there is nothing that stands them apart from anywhere else. Please know who is talking to you when they tell you these slogans and understand there is nothing different about them. My favorite part of the night was Keel told me at the beginning, "we just want to get you in a car. We know when you drive off you're going to tell 5 different people about your experience" The funny thing is, I did call people. 8 different friends (and now this) were called as I was beyond frustration on my long 30 miles trip home...I can assure you, none of those 8 will shop there. Funny how that works. Thanks for reading. If you're looking to negotiate, this is not the place for you. More
Run away from this dealer! I went to David Maus Toyota to purchase two new yaris'. The first salesman was very nice and then the deal went South real quick. The sales manager...the other Maus brother (n to purchase two new yaris'. The first salesman was very nice and then the deal went South real quick. The sales manager...the other Maus brother (not david)came over and basically started fast talking numbers to me. Well, we finally made a deal but I was headed on vacation for the next two days. I told them I was glad we had reached a deal, but I wanted my wife to come in and test drive the vehicle the day after our vacation (2 days later). If she liked it, I would sign and drive the cars. I was told the deal we had agreed to was for that initial day only. OK... no problem there. They can keep there two cars if that's the way they do business. They lose out on ~35k and i get to keep my self respect and give my business to a dealer who is hopefully a bit less sleazy! Later... More
Looks like I'm one of the lucky ones. I walked out of this dealership after a single test drive. I can say nothing of price, service...only a sales experience gone bad. The sales person, Michael, greet this dealership after a single test drive. I can say nothing of price, service...only a sales experience gone bad. The sales person, Michael, greeted me with a, "Hello welcome to David Maus Toyota. Are you going to buy a car today?" I should have just gotten back in my car then and left. Wanted to drive a Prius though and I did. Nice car--will definately buy it at another dealership. Spoke with Michael about the vehicle after driving it and mentioned I wanted to test drive a model with a different suspension system than what they had on the lot. In his "expert" opinion he told me, "You don't have to test drive that you drove this one." When I requested a brochure and his card he brought some arrogant sales manager who wanted me to sit down with him and talk. I walked out with no brochure and no card. I will never give them my business and will make sure I steer friends and colleagues away from this ridiculous dealership. Apparently, David Maus won't do whatever it takes to earn my business because he can't even train his employees on how to listen and work with customers. More
My car was struck by lightening and my check engine and alternator lights were on. I took it to David Maus Toyota for service. They told me that it would cost $100 for diagnostics. Then they called and tol alternator lights were on. I took it to David Maus Toyota for service. They told me that it would cost $100 for diagnostics. Then they called and told me an oil sensor was bad and it would cost $400. Later that day, they said that my brain was scrambled and it would cost $1100 in advance to order, and up to 2 weeks to get the part. They told me the car was not safe to drive. I returned the next morning to test drive new cars and know what I would have to ask the bank to finance. The salesman, Joe Ciolla, told me I could drive the car home if I let him start the paperwork, and they would just tear it up when my bank loan came through. They kept us there all day, used my husband's bad credit when I told them not to, and wanted to charge us 16.9% interest. They offered $300 for my trade in that I had just paid almost $400 for repairs on. We walked out. Joe called that night to tell me he had transferred all of my belongings to the car I had looked at. I ordered a used brain on line and called them the next day to tell them I was picking up the car. I was told repeatedly that they had no record of my car being there. I was even told by one person that he had walked through the entire service area, and my car was not there. I went there myself and talked to a service rep who found my car on the computer with no problem. He talked to a service tech and they walked into the service area. When he returned, he told me the car wouldn't start. I called AAA and had it towed to my house where we found that the computer was unplugged. When plugged in, it started right up and drove fine. THEN since my birthday was coming up, my husband went to renew my registration. Even though I had the title, he was told that it was being transferred and I couldn't renew it. I called and got the run-around for a week before I reported them to the State's Attourney General. This did get their attention. I encourage everyone to complain to them since now they are being investigated. More

We had done a lot of research about the cars before we went. We had gotten pre approved for financing and even received advise from our credit union who recommended David Maus Toyota. After reading the reviews everyone else placed, it is difficult to believe we went to the same location. It was the best car buying experience I have ever had. More
We purchased a 2006 Infiniti with 22,000 miles. Less than 3 months later the car completely stopped on my son with a bad clutch and fly wheel. The chatter that my 19 year old son heard and questioned t than 3 months later the car completely stopped on my son with a bad clutch and fly wheel. The chatter that my 19 year old son heard and questioned the salesman during a test drive was a normal sound according to the salesman. The infinity dealership who is replacing the clutch and flywheel at a cost of $1900 said that sound meant the clutch was on its way out. It was a lemon and they new it. They take no responsibility. They are typical of a "used car salesman" mentality. It's only about selling cars. I will never ever go back to David Maus and no one else should either. The will do "anything" to earn your business.....even lie or "skirt" the truth. More
This is the third and final bad experience we have had at David Maus. We tried to buy a car there and they couldn't come close to the deal we got at Central FL Toyota. Their dealership is much closer for se David Maus. We tried to buy a car there and they couldn't come close to the deal we got at Central FL Toyota. Their dealership is much closer for service though so we went back for oil changes. My 18 year old son took the car in for me. They saw a young kid and immediately started taking advantage of his inexperience - a $80 oil change! Until my husband showed up, then it turned out that the first oil change is free. They have done the upsale or too high pricing too many times now - we won't go back. More
7-1-07 Bad Car Shopping Experience at David Maus 7-1-07 Bad Car Shopping Experience at David Maus Toyota 1160 Rinehart Rd, Sanford FL 32771 I called David Maus Toyota at 4:15 pm today (7-1-07) 7-1-07 Bad Car Shopping Experience at David Maus Toyota 1160 Rinehart Rd, Sanford FL 32771 I called David Maus Toyota at 4:15 pm today (7-1-07) to find out if they had a silver Camry & silver Camry hybrid in stock. I spoke to Raymond who said he would have to verify that and call me back. He called back to say he had that color in both the regular Camry and Camry hybrid. I also asked if the dealership would honor other dealership’s prices as long as it was a comparable situation and he said they will look at it and do their best to match the price. He did say the prices were negotiable. I warned him I would be driving over 1 hour to the dealership so I wouldn’t want to waste my time. He said to come down before they close at 7:30 pm. When I arrived at 5:40 pm I was told by Mark (salesperson) there are no silver hybrids only grey. When I approached Raymond about this he said he didn’t actually physically look on the lot for the car, only in the computer. David Maus Toyota should realize that if someone asks for something specific that if the customer is going to drive over 1 hour, they better make sure they have the car. Then they said they would work a deal for me on the grey car, because I was frustrated with the whole situation and they would try and make it right. The deal they worked was full sticker price. This dealership is a joke! This dealership is not about the customer and they will not do what it takes to earn your business because they wasted my time driving almost 2.5 hours there and back home again. I would be very cautious when dealing with this company. I would recommend any other Toyota dealership over this one at this point. I am so glad I learned early in my life to NEVER deal with David Maus Toyota. More
