Contacted one of Secor's mechanics that I know and described my issue. He said most likely a starter. Was able to make a same day appointment. Car brought to Secor by AAA. Turned out I needed a new starter AND battery. Both were in stock. The parts were replaced in a very timely manner. My service advisor and the mechanics that dealt with my car were first rate. I'm very happy to have been able to get my car back on the road so quickly. Certainly makes me want to keep my Volvo up and running because it's a pleasure doing business with the people at Secor Volvo in New London. More

Typically have a good experience but did not on this occasion. Brought in to get 120,000 mile service which was not an issue. Also brought in for inoperable sun shade on panoramic sunroof that was not extending but the sunroof still worked. Initially told me motor needed to be replaced which was authorized for $800. Then they called me back to say motor was not the issue and it was a cabling issue and to fix would be $4700. Additionally, now the sunroof does not function at all with whatever was done during the service. The only explanation that was given was a corroded wiring issue. No pictures were provided. No warning was given that this was a possibility (this was done in the past with particularly sensitive equipment so that an informed decision could be made). It would not have been authorized if this was known as the sun shade was rarely used. In addition to causing the sunroof to no longer operate, a $180 diagnostic fee for the work was also charged (although the old motor was put back in and the $800 replacement fee was refunded). In short, the SUV was retuned in a worse state than it was brought in, and a fee was charged. A fix will be complicated because I do not know what the technician did that caused it to break.
