This is the second service for 2001 Ranger XLT, 3.0L (first was about a year ago, also suspicious "repairs"). A year ago: Put truck in shop for maint issues - these were resolved, but new issues c (first was about a year ago, also suspicious "repairs"). A year ago: Put truck in shop for maint issues - these were resolved, but new issues cropped up each time I took the truck back to the dealer. Prior to the third visit, the starter was operating normally. After the third visit, the starter was screeching when cranking. Having the tools, time, and documentation, I removed the starter to check on the state of the starter gear and flywheel ring gear - both were in perfect condition, and appeared to be operating normally. But I discovered that the battery cable connecting at the starter had mysteriously became loose. The nut was unscrewed about 1/2 down the stud, and the cable was flopping loosely on the stud. (This should never happen - the nut was held in place by a red plastic cover to prevent accidental shorts across the battery. This cover also locks the nut in place.) While the cover was snapped into place onto the nut, the nut had become "loose". Hmmm.... This weekend (8/29/2009): I needed to have some parts replaced and overdue routine service (cabin dome lamp housing, get a quote to replace the tailgate, fuel filter, A/C service, brake service, oil change, oil filter, rotate tires, coolant flush). Most of the routine service seems to have been performed (but I'm taking their word for it). They said they saw dirty hydraulic fluid (power steering), and recommended changing it and the rear differential oil, and transmission fluid (about $500 for diff, tranny, and hyd fluid, seems very high), tires were worn and needed replacement (possibly true, checking this evening). The A/C refrigerant was low (not surprising - first service in 8 years), but the A/C was still working fairly well, and I wanted to keep it that way. They said they found a leak in one of the A/C hoses, and wanted to replace the hose ($480, and they didn't have it in stock). I told them to just add refrigerant ($100) and I would have to budget for the hose later. They didn't have the dome lamp housing ($90), and couldn't find one in the valley. They couldn't provide a complete quote on the tailgate either, but what they did say was in line with online research. I got the truck back, but didn't realize the A/C wasn't working (it did seem warmer than it should have, but I was very hot and sweaty, and couldn't be sure). I had little reason to trust them before this visit, and after I examine the tires and A/C tonight, I may have strong reason to never go back again. More
Took my F150 on for its schedueled oil change and inspection yesterday, boy was i surprised when i got home from work that night and looked it over. First, off both side of the cowling molding are br inspection yesterday, boy was i surprised when i got home from work that night and looked it over. First, off both side of the cowling molding are broken, window molding on driver side is torn off and broken someone stuffed it down to hold it in place like i wouldnt notice. Second, my fender flair on the front driver side is broken, and you can only buy those in sets of four when you need to replace one at the cost of $500. Third, chipped paint at the top of my window and swirl marks in the paint along both sides of the truck. Lastly, greasy finger prints all along the doors and bedsides and grease inside my truck on the leather interior front and rear seats. The very first call i get from them regarding my truck after i dropped it off for its oil change was one saying my oil plug needed to be replaced because it was leaking alot of oil. I found this odd since my truck is garage kept and rarely driven and have never had a spot of oil under it, so im sure that was damaged there. Also truck came back with a lack of power as if it were detuned, rear end loose along with the tail gate. This is not the first time ive had trouble with them. Each time the truck goes in Im working on something they did wrong or cleaning it up. The very first time i had it serviced there my AFE intake was partially disassembled and never put back together, so i had to replace clamps and hose sections on that. They agreed to fix the damage on my truck they consider to "possibly" be their fault but not everything i listed. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone for buying a vehicle or service its been nothing but a nightmare for me with both. More
I went in on an internet price advertised with the number referenced. I called first to confirm how it worked, but when I passed over my driver's lisence to dtest drive it, they ran a credit report apparent referenced. I called first to confirm how it worked, but when I passed over my driver's lisence to dtest drive it, they ran a credit report apparently. The sticker price on the vehicle was well above the internet advertised price on the exact car, they explained it was wrong and the sticker was their price. Bait and switch by 7.000.00 did not sound appealing, ao I said I wasn't interested in their car or deal and left. I called the Az attorney generals office about the fraudulent internet ad. Days later I get a letter saying that they refused my credit application. WHAT????? I have perfect credit and a high score, and never even applied. Terrible, terrible company.....run the other way. We looked at the Escape, as we considered trading in our existing car until the Cars for Clunkers program. We didn't drive our "clunker" into the dealership, and since we didn't, our salesperson wouldn't ev existing car until the Cars for Clunkers program. We didn't drive our "clunker" into the dealership, and since we didn't, our salesperson wouldn't even give us a price on the new car. In fact, the sales manager told our salesperson not to "waste his f---ing time with us until we came back with our trade-in." It was amazing they wouldn't even give us a price, because we were the only customers in the entire dealership. Salespeople were talking to each other and had nothing to do. I will never go here again, and I will tell everyone about the poor service we received here. More

Went to San Tan Ford, 45 miles from our home, on Sat 4/11/09 to look at a used car they had advertised online. Met with a salesman named John "Red" Baran. Test drove the car & explained that we would 4/11/09 to look at a used car they had advertised online. Met with a salesman named John "Red" Baran. Test drove the car & explained that we would be paying cash. Car was nice & met our needs. There were concerns that I wanted my mechanic to look at. I asked Red if I can take the car to my mechanic. He assured me that would be no problem. He would just put dealer plates on & we can have it checked. He asked that I call him on Monday & we can set it up. He confirmed with his manager that it would be ok. I shook hands with Red & his manager before leaving the dealership. On Mon, 4/13/09, I called Red. I explained that I would like to take the car to my mechanic as we discussed on Saturday. He said he would be at the dealership at 1pm. I arrived at San Tan Ford around 1:10PM. He recognized me & we went inside. He asked if I wanted to take another test drive, & I explained that as I had told him on the phone, I was here to take the car to my mechanic. I would be leaving my 08 Honda Odyssey there while I did this. Red said he would have to ask his manager. He says that the Manager will only let me take the car if he runs a credit report on me. This was not acceptable & contrary to what I had been told at this dealership on Sat as well as what I had experienced at other dealerships. I told this to Red & he went back to his manager. He came back & explained that the manager insisted that was the only way he would let me take the car. He also stated that they could sell the car to me and stipulate in the contract that I could return it if my mechanic did not approve. So basically, this dealership, the salesperson, and his manager LIED to me on numerous occasions in order to have me come back to the dealership with no intention to follow through on what they had told me. I left. I wasted over 2.5 hours of my time & 90 miles worth of gas and depreciation on my car. This is unacceptable and a VERY bad way to serve potential customers. More
My car had engine check lite on. Code indicated cyl 1 misfire. Have hesitation and stalling problem. They said it was the battery. Put new battery in and still have same problems. Put old battery on sons misfire. Have hesitation and stalling problem. They said it was the battery. Put new battery in and still have same problems. Put old battery on sons car, working fine. Brought back again with misfire, stalling, and rough idle, they said they made adjustments. Still have same problem. Brought car back again with engine check lite on and cyl 7 misfire code. They replaced cyl 7 COP. Then I found out there are TSB on the problem and it was so bad with other models that warranties were extended. They knew about these problems and let be bring the car back 3 times and had to pay over $350.00 last time for what amounted to a spark plug change for 1 cylinder. You have to give then credit, they know how to make money because my car still has rough idle and stalling problem. I learned my lesson, I'll take the car to a recommended local neighborhood garage. A month ago I asked to see a fartory representative, and still no word. More
This dealorship deals in high pressure sales and other trick techniques to get you to purchase a car. The staff I worked w/ were socially appropriate and glad to help- until I decided to take some time to trick techniques to get you to purchase a car. The staff I worked w/ were socially appropriate and glad to help- until I decided to take some time to think over the deal they were offering. At that point one of the staff members tried to bully me into buying the car. He was very inappropriate. When it came down to reviewing the deal they were offering it just seemed off. I ended up going to Avondale Toyota and bought a car- very easy- straight forward, no games and no hassle. More
We requested price quotes on a new 2008 Edge from several ford dealers in the Phoenix and East Valley area using the Internet. San Tan ford was by far the most responsive and gave us a great price on severa ford dealers in the Phoenix and East Valley area using the Internet. San Tan ford was by far the most responsive and gave us a great price on several new Edge's they had in stock. When we visited the dealership we were introduced to Chris Guerrero, the owner. Chris was very genuine and none of his people were high pressure or deceitful like some of the people we had run into at other dealerships. Chris let me and my wife drive the new Edge we were most interested in over the weekend and on Monday we went back to the store and completed the paperwork. The whole experience was really the best we have ever benn treated by any car dealer... I have been buying cars for over 34 years and am not inexperienced. San Tan ford is the type of dealership people should buy their cars from because Chris Guerrero runs a first class customer focused operation. The facilities are brand new and well designed which also makes San Tan a good place to do business with. We highly recommend this dealership and will be going out of our way to recommend the store to our co-workers, neighbors and friends. More
