I came to Ron Tonkin Dodge in Gladstone and I was impressed the minute I got out of my car and walked in the door of the dealership. There I met Dan Kamer, Sales Consultant. He showed me a couple of cars. I test drove the Dodge Dart Rallye Blacktop edition. It drove like a dream. Dan then started to educate me as we drove on all the benefits of this car. Safety, mileage and more. I have never bought an American made car and this was the first. I bought the warranty that was a good plan. To live everyday without the worry of a used car breaking down. I would highly recommend Dan Kamer, all the sales people were friendly. He was easy to talk to and patient with me as this is something I take serious, when it comes to buying a car. I absolutely love my new car and I would refer anyone to stop buy and check out their selection of new cars. On a scale of 1-10, I give him a 10 on every level. MLD , a happy customer. More

This is a snapshot of his email: "When you arrive at Ron Tonkin Dodge, please ask the Salesperson that greets you or the Receptionist to page me. It is important that you ask for me. I have done the preliminaries to streamline the buying process for you and am the only one able to offer you special financing. " Obviously there were not any preliminaries done before hand because his excuse was that he had 130 other customers. Tough luck! This is your job, and to have someone repeat the information over again phone calls and back and forth emails is ridiculous and a waste of time. I have purchased cars before, and I was convinced with his sales pitch even though he kept mentioning "special financing" that I would not have to go through the same car buying experiences as before. He definitely filled my head with a bunch of xx and I drove an hour from Salem to meet him. He said I would deal with him from beginning to end, and this was another lie. I dealt with a rookie salesman that didnt know anything about the cars or financing. I am an accountant with a finance background and they had the nerve to bring back terms that were worse then what I currently have. The car I was looking to buy was 19k and on the final paperwork it turned into 29k. Dont trust these guys gimmicks. I told them Im not playing this back and forth game, and they knew it, because seconds later they handed my key back and said they had nothing else to offer. So far, the best experience I have had in the Portland area is Gresham Honda. I will be going back to Honda. More
Deceptive from start to finish! SOOO shady. Saw a used Mazda CX-7 on their website that is very clearly advertised as "Mazda Certified Pre-owned". Get through the whole buying proces SOOO shady. Saw a used Mazda CX-7 on their website that is very clearly advertised as "Mazda Certified Pre-owned". Get through the whole buying process, signing papers and everything and then asked to sign a paper that says it's being sold with no warranty. I object and says it factory certified and quote the terms from the website (12mo/12,000 miles limited and 7ys/100,000 miles limited powertrain), only to be told that it's not certified at all!!! WHAT?!? I mentioned multiple times throughout the buying process that the certification was something that was a big deciding factor for me and NO ONE EVER mentioned that it wasn't certified. Seems everyone from the salesmen to the managers, to the finance department is comfortable outright lying to their customers just to get a sale. When I called the next day to get clarification about the website ad the sales manager at the Mazda store (Shawn Clancy) said that whenever a used car comes in that fits the parameters of certification, it goes up on the website as certified whether it is or not!!! That's so freaking SHADY! He also said that he salesman that we were working with was told that the car wasn't certified, which was NEVER mentioned to us until the very end. I will NEVER deal with Tonkin again! Everyone we dealt with was deceptive from start to finish. More

He explained everything to me; what the car had, how to work it, took me for a test drive, and was there for me every step of the way through the sale. I absolutely LOVE my new Dodge Journey!! Randy is the best salesman I have ever worked with! He is honest, hardworking, professional and thorough! If you are in need of a new car, the Dodge Journey is the best for families large and small. Go to Gladstone Dodge and ask for Randy Galvin and he'll take care of all your car needs! The only negative thing I can say about the dealership is that they wouldn't fill my car's gas tank, not even with 2-5 gallons so I could drive home. Randy tried to get them to fill it, but they wouldn't approve the request. So, Randy took the car to the nearest gas station and had the tank half-filled with gas on my credit card. I think that is going above and beyond his duty as a salesman. Thanks to Randy Galvin, I have a fabulous new ride and a salesman to recommend to friends and family. More
I was sold a Durango, I had it for 22 days and the transmission went out. But I'm being charged $2,100 to repair it, which I don't have that kind of money. The price was good at Tonkin,this being a cash sale. After driving a couple of Journeys with Walter, we decided to pay more to get the RT version. It was an extra charge for the color also. As we are looking at it, we made sure we bought one with the "trailer tow prep group", which Walter assured us had the wires underneath and most people went to U-Haul to get the hitch installed. We took his word for it. The prep group apparently was a bag of wires in the back that they couldn't use, confirmed by a call to Tonkin service dept. Unfortunately the hitch looked after market, and after paying more for some cosmetic items this was unacceptable. Called Tonkin and told the sales manager of my frustration, which he said really had nothing to do with him. Meantime called U- Haul and told them it looked after market, they were very gracious to take it off and refund my money for the hitch, with no additional labor charges. Next morning Tonkin service called and told me the price he thought was fair(which is the exact same price I am getting it installed by another dealer). But, since I had been mislead by Walter both about the wiring and getting the hitch put on, he would check and see if sales would do anything extra for me.....they wouldn't. Next Dodge ( this is our 4th in 10 years) DAVE SMITH here we come. All service, if not purchase, will be done in Newberg. More
Chris Brunold was very rude and mouthy over the phone and in person. He told me nothing was wrong with my van and said my chrystler warrenty would not cover his $130+ dollar an hour to find out what is wro in person. He treated me like I was stupid and not worth his time. Many words were exchanged and he did not fix my van. Tonight my front axle seized searing off 4 out of 5 of my lug nut bolts. My front tire was hanging on by a thread. We were driving 55mph on HWY213 when this happened. I am very lucky that my 2 children did not get seriously hurt from this. Ron Tonkin has never contacted me over this matter. Ron Tonkin does not care for customers with warrenties. Ron Tonkin does not care that lives are endangered. This will be handled. Chris Brunold needs to lose his job before someone dies because of his lazy "don't give a rip" attitude. More

This was the first purchase after filing bankruptcy last year due to some major medical bills. I had my heart set on a Subaru Legacy that I had saw at another dealer in Vancouver NOT Ron Tonkin. They sold it the day before I was supposed to go and meet with them to purchase it. I had been pre-approved through another lender. They had another vehicle for me to look at and didn't even bother to call and notify me. I was done with this dealer. I received a call from Scott Granstrom from Ron Tonkin Dodge to come in for an appointment and see what we could work out on a car. After reading some reviews I was a bit nervous for our appointment the next day. I decided I was going to keep an open mind. I could always get up and walk away. Scott was a very nice guy and very easy to work with. I went in not sure what I was even wanting to buy if anything. Scott wanted me to test drive a Dodge Avenger. I didn't have a clue what this car even looked like. It looked sharp and drove real nice. I drove two because of color and then decided I wanted Silver and made a deal on the Silver one. The car felt solid and didn't look like it was all plastic inside. This is why I like the Legacy so well. I knew my interest rate was going to be high because of the bankruptcy and it was over 12%. Scott told me that they would try and get a lower rate when it went through financing. Well, it did go down over 1/2 a point. I was then told that they would try and get another lender to purchase the loan and if they could lower my rate they would. I thought to myself, yeah right. That is not going to happen. I was happy with the total cost of the car and the payments. They were right where I wanted them to be. Two days later I received a call from Chase, they had purchased the loan. The next day I received a letter that they had lowered my interest rate to 9% and that I should refinance it after making 12 payments. So would I recommend Scott Granstrom and Ron Tonkin? YES, there was no pressure, they did what they said they would do and were very friendly. (I had both doors scoped out in case I needed to make a run for it) I decided to write this review because of the negative ones I saw on here. I figured it was the least I could do. Thank you to Scott and everyone else involved in the sale of my new 2013 Avenger. I am very happy customer. Dean More
I have purchased 5 new vehicles prior to this one. I have to say this is the best dealer I have ever had dealings with. They made me feel like I was a friend. I left very happy with the great deal I got in to say this is the best dealer I have ever had dealings with. They made me feel like I was a friend. I left very happy with the great deal I got in buying my new Jeep Liberty. I didn't have to deal with the usual back and forth price deals. I got a great price up front and with the additional options offers I chose the price was still great. I will never go to any other dealer again. More
