When I step into a dealership looking for a vehicle I expect to be treated like a human, I am embarrassed at the customer service I received today. I understand negotiations, but I don’t need to know tha expect to be treated like a human, I am embarrassed at the customer service I received today. I understand negotiations, but I don’t need to know that your dad has money. I went in with intentions to leave the lot with a new vehicle, but instead I’m looking for a different dealership. I’m disappointed and disgusted that when I sat down to communicate with an individual that worked there I was yelled at and talked down to. I’d like to end this by simply saying, don’t raise your voice at customers or mention that your daddy has money. Very inappropriate. More
I went to this dealership to purchase a fairly new car with low miles, I wanted to trade my car in. They said it was on worth $3700 and I finally was able to get 5000 from after they said they would proba with low miles, I wanted to trade my car in. They said it was on worth $3700 and I finally was able to get 5000 from after they said they would probably get $7000 out of it, that was an outright lie. I see that they had it for sale for $10000 why is it the salesmen have to lie and put down your trade. I wish I could find an honest salesman at this dealership. I will never trust them again and I won't be back to buy buy another car from them again. More
I recommended this Tonkin dealership to a friend that was very apprehensive about buying a new truck. She went to tonkin chevy and spoke with Will H and he helped her make a good decision with no worry. was very apprehensive about buying a new truck. She went to tonkin chevy and spoke with Will H and he helped her make a good decision with no worry. Showed her the choices and insured she was comfortable with the process. She came home in big silverado 4 X 4 just what she needed to pull her horse trailer. She thanked me very much for telling her about Will's great approach to customer service. More

My partner, Tony, and I purchased a 2015 Kia Soul EV here in mid December. Our sales rep, Chris K., was great at the time in finding Tony a vehicle he loved. We wanted to pay for the vehicle in cash, but we in mid December. Our sales rep, Chris K., was great at the time in finding Tony a vehicle he loved. We wanted to pay for the vehicle in cash, but we were waiting for an insurance check to arrive, so Chris and the on-duty SALES manager, John, said the car could be ours if we entered into a "contract". Essentially, once we received the insurance check, we would pay the vehicle off immediately. They even said that if the check came in the next day (after signing), they would tear up the contract and we could pay in cash. However, they said we would have 45 days to pay off the vehicle and that was that. This worked out great for us because the insurance company took some time to send the check. So here we are today, January 25th, 2021. We are told by the financing company that in fact, we DID finance the vehicle AND we are paying interest of $239.79 on what was supposed to be a cash deal. Not only did we explicitly and repeatedly say we did NOT WANT TO FINANCE, but John messed up on our registration and we had to overpay some $300 as the vehicle was already titled. When we called today to voice our frustration, it was met with a "well, at least it's only a few hundred dollars in interest..." Seriously? If it's only a few hundred dollars, we would greatly appreciate a check from Ron Tonkin for the $239.79 in interest we had to pay on a CASH DEAL. What started out as a wonderful experience has slowly devolved into one of the worst car buying experiences we have been apart of. Do not tell customers they can enter into a "contract" after they repeatedly said they didn't want to finance, only to put them in a financing position. I think this situation can be remedied in three ways - 1) Ensure your sales staff are properly trained on financing options and do not mislead customers. 2) Make sure you have appropriate people able to process the financing paperwork, as John-the-sales-manager-who-used-to-be-in-finance clearly needs a refresher. 3) Send us a check for $239.79 for the interest that was supposed to be a cash deal. You have our contact information. We look forward to hearing from you with how you will address and remedy this situation. More
My daughter took her car in for a repair. They diagnosed it as a bad purge valve. That's a $40 part (full retail) that installs in a few minutes with no tools. Internet sites say that the repair should co it as a bad purge valve. That's a $40 part (full retail) that installs in a few minutes with no tools. Internet sites say that the repair should cost $150 at the most. Tonkin's quote was $300. They also told my daughter that her 2018 Sonic with 50,000 miles on it needed 1) new spark plugs, 2) a fuel injector flush, 3) a brake system flush, 4) and a cabin air filter. All told, an additional $700 for ridiculous and unnecessary "repairs". We paid the $150 diagnostic fee and took the car home. I bought a purge valve for $20 on Amazon, watched a U-tube video, then changed it out in 5 minutes with no tools needed. They thought that my daughter was a sucker and tried to put it to her. More
WORST CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE EVER! I went with my 21 yo WORST CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE EVER! I went with my 21 yo son to purchase a 2013 Tacoma. After the test drive, he checked the engine and noticed something wrong with how the oil looked in the oil cap. He brought it to their attention and was not going to buy it. However, they convinced him there was nothing wrong. He bought it. The next day, it started randomly dying when at a stoplight. He tried to call them and they ignored him and shuffled him around. He got impatient and took it in. They again ignored him and were very rude to him. He's a 21 yo with an attitude, I get it, but the way they treated him was atrocious! An employee there pulled him aside and admitted to him that the staff there had been talking badly about him and making fun of him all morning! First of all, this is a 21 year old! They are supposed to be the adults. You do not get to treat people that way when you are representing a brand. He left the truck and demanded they look at it. They begrudgingly gave him a loaner and sent him on his way. Three days later, they drop the truck off saying they removed the low-jack that had apparently been on it and that should solve the issue! They gave us no service documentation at all. The next day, the truck randomly started dying at stoplights again. This time, I have been calling to see what can be done. They have also ignored me. I have left several messages for Tony Romano, the store manager, and he has completely ignored me. Upon reading other yelp reviews, apparently, this is what he/they do- they ignore you until you go away and take your vehicle elsewhere. Who is training these people!? I thought Ron Tonkin was supposed to be known for their customer service?? BTW, my 21 year old son worked his xxx off flipping vehicles and motorbikes over the past few years to earn the money for this truck! His goal was to buy a dependable truck to get him to the University of North Dakota for aviation school this Fall. Not only was he treated so abhorrently rude, made fun of, and ignored, it is one more example of disappointment and poor behavior from the adults around him. THAT is what upsets me the most! Now he has to worry about fixing it and about how dependable it will ever be, on top of prepping for his first big move away from home. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A VEHICLE AT ANY RON TONKIN DEALERSHIP AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE! I have emailed the CEO asking that we receive an apology and that that team either be properly trained or removed! Poor customer service! I’ve bought my Volkswagen CC from Poor customer service! I’ve bought my Volkswagen CC from Ron Tonkin Chevy almost two years ago, As well as an extended warranty for my car. I receiv Poor customer service! I’ve bought my Volkswagen CC from Ron Tonkin Chevy almost two years ago, As well as an extended warranty for my car. I receive emails from ron Tonkin with coupons and discounts about monthly. I noticed I got one for a discounted oil change and decided to call and set an appointment. I clarified before the appointment that I had a Volkswagen and need synthetic oil I also asked if the coupon would still apply and was told that it was not a problem at all. Fast forward to my appointment I was greeted with horrible customer service. The man at the counter was clearly aggravated that my car was not a Chevy (even though I called a head of time to make sure) continued to lecture me on how I shouldn’t have gotten the email even though it has my name and my cars make a model on the email from THEM. Then told me it would take an hour and a half to get done. When I came back for me car I was greeted by another Man who also was clearly irritated telling me this oil change cost over $250 and that they would not be doing it again and acted as if it was my fault. I checked all paper work after I left and the total would have been $150 I paid $50. I have never had such a bad experience essentially for something that is out of my control, don’t send coupons if your employees can not maintain a cool front for customers. I have paid this company over $21,000 dollars in the last two years, even took my mother here to buy her new car a year ago. But based off how poorly I was treated and embarrassed I will never recommend rob Tonkin again. I suggest training your employees to control there emotions when with customers. Another customer waiting for their car apologized for the behavior of your employees. I do not recall the second mans name. More
Let the buyer beware Ron Tonkin Sales and Finance Managers in September 2018 sold us a used vehicle with major salt corrosion issues from Canada. At the time of sale they Ron Tonkin Sales and Finance Managers in September 2018 sold us a used vehicle with major salt corrosion issues from Canada. At the time of sale they downplayed issues. They also promised verbally to clean and treat the undercarriage but did neither. I felt like they were after a quick sale instead of a customer for life. Efforts to follow-up were dismissed or ignored. Since then these problems continue to result in many hugely expensive repairs. Have an independent mechanic inspect your potential purchase and get everything in writing. More
From the time I walked in the door until the time I left this has been the worst experience that I’ve had with a car service area or a car dealer. This is the most rude bunch of people I’ve ever worked with this has been the worst experience that I’ve had with a car service area or a car dealer. This is the most rude bunch of people I’ve ever worked with in my life. The person that helped me didn’t even bother to give me his name maybe it’s because my face was African-American. Then he wanted to tell me all of these things that needed to be serviced on my car and I know that’s a bold face lie because I just had my car serviced two weeks ago and then also a week ago and had over $700 worth of stuff fixed so I know it’s not broken.Maybe this is how they suck or other cultures into using their services. I will never come here again to buy a car to get service on a car nothing. And this was a factory recall. Rude staff. They walk past you and don’t speak and they look right in your face. Never again.
