After being rear-ended by an uninsured driver, I was painstakingly looking for an acceptable replacement asap. I saw via cars.com that the Thomas Motors in Joliet had new 2011 Camrys for $18,500. I cou painstakingly looking for an acceptable replacement asap. I saw via cars.com that the Thomas Motors in Joliet had new 2011 Camrys for $18,500. I couldn't believe what a great price they were offering them for; so, before deciding to make the long drive out to this dealer, I decided to call and verify that the listed price was correct. I was told it was correct and that they still had several still available. Sounds great, right?? It was only after test driving that I was told the $18,500 online price was for 'recent college grads' only and that I did not qualify for that price (despite graduating in 2008, but that's besides the point). They told me that cars.com only allowed them so much room to advertize that fact and that I should have looked at their dealer website as all of those missing details were listed. Well, not only did I look at their website (which still lists that there are Camrys available at $18,500 with NO mention that the price is for 'RECENT' college grads only) but was also lied to on the phone when I called to verify that price in the first place. I was so disappointed for all the wasted time. They tried to convince me that I wouldn't be able to find a better deal since they have the lowest prices in town. I decided to take my cards off the table and leave empty handed. I then went to Orland Toyota and despite them not having any special prices online, I was sold a NEW Camry out the door including tax/title/license for $18,100. Not only did they give me a better price, but they also never lied to me or wasted my time. Moral of the story: Thomas Motors, you do NOT have the best deals in town and I didn't appreciate being lied to. More
Everything seemed fine until I asked to see a breakdown of the out-the-door price. They tried to dodge my question but I kept pushing to see all the charges. I finally discovered many bogus fees on top o of the out-the-door price. They tried to dodge my question but I kept pushing to see all the charges. I finally discovered many bogus fees on top of the normal taxes, licensing, and doc fees. One was for a VIN etching and they were charging me $600! This costs $30-$40 tops at AAA - and that price is for nonmembers. You can even buy a DIY kit to do VIN etching for around 20 bucks. Total scam. They advertise great low prices and then try to get you on a bunch of bogus fees at the end. I called them out on it, asked them to at least reduce the fees to normal levels, but they refused and wouldn't budge. They started to act condescendingly and treated me as if I didn't know what was good for myself. My wife and I had to walk out because we were getting no where with them. Watch out for the bogus fees they will throw on the final price! More
Honestly I'm a little surprised at the crabby reviews. Yes, there is always a certain inherent level of distrust with any car dealership but we visited several other Toyota dealerships before buying from Yes, there is always a certain inherent level of distrust with any car dealership but we visited several other Toyota dealerships before buying from Thomas. The guys at Thomas were very friendly and gave us the price we wanted on our new car, a better price then any of the other dealerships we visited and we felt no pressure what-so-ever to buy. We had to order the car we wanted from the factory and they even helped us make some adjustments to the options after we signed and got them added to the car without additional delays from the factory. buying a new car never seems to be an enjoyable experience but these guys really put the effort in from start to finish. Not to mention they have a free lifetime warranty! More
I'm surprised by some of the ratings for the "high ranked" dealerships, because when I was calling those dealerships, they were very rude. I wanted a specific color and type of car, that was very rare ranked" dealerships, because when I was calling those dealerships, they were very rude. I wanted a specific color and type of car, that was very rare to find, and so the few places who had the car (some who actually have a high rating on this site!) jacked up the price knowing how badly I wanted that specific one... Not Thomas Toyota! They didn't have my car in stock, and drove 500 miles there and back to find one in Indiana. They went above and beyond excellent customer service to give me the exact car I wanted. I also got an amazing price - one that no dealership could match let alone beat. Plus, you get the lifetime power-train warranty with this dealership. How could you go wrong? It took me a few visits to actually purchase, because I was so picky and hesitant, but they were completely patient with me. I wasn't rushed into anything, and each time I stopped by I was treated with respect and courtesy. I wasn't pressured to buy anything. I was given the facts and the decision was mine. My mom, a Poland native, enjoyed her time there because people came up and talked to her about the Polish language. It was just a really friendly atmosphere. The sales manager (I think his name was John?) came by a few times just to wish me luck and give me $50 gift card for service here. One day I came in right before closing, and they stayed with me, not rushing me at all, half an hour after closing, and I didn't even purchase anything that day. (Too hesitant!). But they stayed with me, told me not to rush on such a big decision, and told me to come back another time and they promised the price they had would be set, and they'd find me the car I wanted. They kept their promise!! =) I seriously couldn't ask for anything more in a dealership. I really recommend this place, and if you do choose this place, pick Edgar Sanchez as your salesman. He did a great job, and he was very trustworthy. On one visit I left a $500 deposit that just proved I was serious, and he was just supposed to hold on to it. People were telling me I should be worried because he'd cash it and have me stuck there. But, he didn't. I came in a different day and he handed me my check back. No games here. I see the ratings here are really low. However, if you come in smart, doing your research, knowing the prices, and knowing about the car you'd like to purchase, there is no reason you shouldn't have a great experience in this dealership. (And honestly, some of these low reviews are ridiculous, people either didn't do their research or expect the dealership to GIVE them a car for free, these people would be unhappy in any dealership). They work really hard to get the sale, which means they work really hard to get you the price you want. Plus, Toyota has really strict standards...customer service is extremely important, and I could see that by the way I was treated over the past few days. There's a reason I'm going through all the trouble going to these sites leaving my feedback. Their rating isn't really fair, and I want people to know that this place did a great job, and they can do the same for other people. More

Have used the dealer for service and maintenance, bought the car new at Thomas, Scion xB is 2 years old now with 41000 miles. At this last 5000 mile service interval basic fluid checks, oil change, brakes the car new at Thomas, Scion xB is 2 years old now with 41000 miles. At this last 5000 mile service interval basic fluid checks, oil change, brakes and tires checked and TIRES ROTATED. As you can see the TIRES ROTATED is upper caps, they did not rotate the tires. I was charged and extra $40 dollars above the oil change. How many times has this happened, this being visit number 7. They said I could come in and they will rotate, my time and gas is worth more then that, has offered coupons etc.. If I took something from a store, I would be arrested. They have the Forever warranty where you need to service through them. What are they doing? Trying to sabotage the business relationship, I am ready to go elsewhere for my service. More
I went in with a trade in car that is KBB valued at 14800 in good condition (honestly, it's in excellent condition being less than 2 months old!) I wanted to purchase a car that is listed, very clearly in t in good condition (honestly, it's in excellent condition being less than 2 months old!) I wanted to purchase a car that is listed, very clearly in the front windshield, at $13988. The dealer also had a promo that said they were offering $1000 over KBB for trade ins. I confirmed this over the phone and then again when we got to the dealership. When it came time to make the final deal, the manager tried to RAISE the price of his car from $13988 to $18000!!!! He said he refused to lose money on the deal (even though it was clearly legit...I wasn't even asking him to discount the price!!!) How is this fair? How is this even legal?? If the price is marked in the windshield, how can he RAISE it by almost $4000!!!!!????? I will never again step back in that dealership and I will be letting everyone I know know about the immoral ethics and business practices they allow. More
On September 7th I purchased an As-Is used truck from Thomas Toyota with only their "Warranty Forever" warranty. I checked the truck out, decided to purchase the truck and took it to my Mechanic immedia Thomas Toyota with only their "Warranty Forever" warranty. I checked the truck out, decided to purchase the truck and took it to my Mechanic immediately after purchase that same day. We didn't find any issues with it at that time, but it wasn't a through inspection. I decided to try the 4 Wheel Drive about 4 weeks later and there was an evident grinding noise coming from the Front Differential. I checked the fluid and it was dark and had metal shavings in it. I decided to then change the fluid in the front differential to see if that cured the noise. It did not. I returned to the dealer a few days later with the fluid in a bottle to plead my case. I spoke with the service manager and explained the situation. After his technician checked out the truck and little debate they agreed the front differential needed to be replaced. The service manager told me that they will be covering the cost of the front differential. I purchased this truck As-Is, there was no reason that they had to replace the front differential. I am not a loyal customer to anyone. I am too cheap and must shop around, however if I am in the market for a new vehicle Thomas Toyota will be my first stop for sure. They did what was right without too much hassle. They're honest. They're service can use some work inspecting vehicles, but they made it right. More

The salespeople here are VERY arrogant and EXTREMELY rude. They advertise 1 thing on the internet to get you there & then it's a totally different price and warranty than listed. After going there on 2 rude. They advertise 1 thing on the internet to get you there & then it's a totally different price and warranty than listed. After going there on 2 occasions (thought maybe the first time was a fluke), I can definitely say this is the WORST dealer experience I have ever had. I DO NOT reccomend this dealership. More
