My experience was wonderful. I have purchase many cars over the years but Tammy Phillips was fantastic. She took me for a ride with many different rode, tight corners, hills and highway. That same day I made my $100 payment to put the "for sale" sign on the windshield of a 2011 Volkswagen GTI autobahn edition. They really made all the paperwork simple and made sure I got the right bank with the best deal. The salesman, Rico Rivera, helped me through every step. He really looked out for me and made sure I was happy with my new car and that I got the best deal. By far the best dealership, and salesman, i have ever dealt with. Overall, working with VW of Kingston was a pleasant experience - but mostly because of Joann. She wasn't our sales person, she didn't have anything at all to do with the actual sale of the car, but sh experience - but mostly because of Joann. Shep was nice and very knowledgeable about the car. I found out lots of small tricks about the car that I wouldn't have otherwise. However, Phil was short and curt when trying to negotiate the price. A happy customer is worth everything in this business, and when talking money- Phil was not pleasant. However, after the final price was decided, he seemed happier (even finalizing the paperwork at the end with us alone - I was expecting more grumpiness, but his demeanor had changed). The only other complaint that I have is the time it took to finalize the paperwork. We were there for four hours. That is WAY too long. Halfway through, chatting with Joann, she even said it shouldn't take this long. If she hadn't pushed anyone, it would have taken longer. She jumped in and helped me get my insurance updated so we wouldn't be waiting for that. Shep also left to help another customer before we were finished. It doesn't seem to me that it should take so long - multitasking is important. Other than grumpiness and duration, the overall process of buying the car was pleasant. As pleasant as it can be. I arrived at VW of Kingston -- honestly -- just to testdrive a car. I intended to go to another VW dealer with whom I worked in the past. However, Carlos, the guy we happened to connect with upon a testdrive a car. I intended to go to another VW dealer with whom I worked in the past. However, Carlos, the guy we happened to connect with upon arriving at the dealership, was excellent - he discussed the car in which I was first interested, the Golf, and we also discussed the Sportwagen, but I was not really considering it. We took the Golf for a long test drive (almost half an hour) and I found it was not what I really wanted. We then took the Jetta Sportwagen for a long test drive - and I was very very impressed. As I was trading in a Tiguan, my expectations were high. So, I changed my focus to the Jetta Sportwagen. We talked price - Carlos offered an excellent price. I was not ready to do the deal, but he gave us the price in writing, and we left. I got in touch with my preferred dealer, who was surprisingly rude and unresponsive, saying things like, 'they must be lying about the price,' and 'why would I remember you? I sell over 300 cars a year!' That did it - while I DID check with other dealers - noone could match the price. I also did not want to waste my time - Carlos was polite, considerate, on point, and a great pro with whom to work. I called Carlos and told him I was heading back to do the deal! He came up with a fair trade amount for the Tiguan and within one week of our original meeting, we sealed the deal. Carlos had the new car ready for me on time, within a few days, expedited the transfer of my plates, and our meeting with the finance guy went quickly, smoothly and very professionally to complete the transaction. The irony is that VW of Kingston is rebuilding their showroom, and the work is currently being done in a temporary building - which is clean and servicable, but not a real showroom. However, the performance of staff, their responsiveness and professionalism far exceeded the other dealer (from whom I bought 2 VWs in the past in a fancy suburban showroom). VW of Kingston is not the most geographically convenient place for me - but it was the RIGHT place to go. They exceed expectations and are great to work with -- and they are selling a superb line of vehicles. I am a dedicated VW driver - having had a Jetta sedan and a Tiguan, which was great, but was a little too big and did not deliver the gas mileage I wanted. My Jetta Sportwagen is delivering on ALL fronts - a great car, handles beautifully, has lots of space, and best of all, has a powerful DIESEL engine, delivering 40 mpg. I just love sailing by the Prius's on the road...they are not enjoying the terrific driving car I am thrilled to have bought from Kingston VW! Highly recommend them to anyone! And worth the 23-mile drive to go for my servicing because I think they are really a cut above the rest! More

We went to this dealership because when we were doing research on internet we found a car in their inventory which is very close to the VW GTI we are interested in.
