Unfortunate trend I hesitate writing this, but with my service visit yesterday, candid feedback is in order to possibly help other customers. Since purchasing my C I hesitate writing this, but with my service visit yesterday, candid feedback is in order to possibly help other customers. Since purchasing my Camry in 2016, I decided to utilize the service department for routine maintenance instead of a trusted mechanic here in Cartersville. At first, everything worked well and I was able to get in and out in 20 minutes with little or no "...you need this $$$ part(s)" in addition to my oil change and tire rotation. This began to change significantly over the last 12 months with oil changes taking longer accompanied with a laundry list of expensive repairs needed (i.e. being told out of the blue I needed a new battery - $90 - when it was perfectly fine when I brought it in. That was eight months ago and the battery is still fine). Stuff like this is the #1 reason I bypassed dealer service and used an expert mechanic for my Asian cars. Back to the time factor. In December, it took over two hours for the oil change. To be fair, they just started taking appointments, so I understood the ramifications of not having one. For my visit this week, I played by the rules and set up an 11:45 AM oil change/tire rotation. I arrived and checked in early at 11:20 - no problem. at 12:40 PM, I began to sweat about a work call scheduled for 1:00 (thinking I would be out the door with an appointment). At 12:50 PM, I inquired about the status, and was told it was going to be a little longer. I started my call in the waiting room and left at 1:10 PM - almost two hours after arriving for my appointment. What's more, the tires were not rotated... thankfully. I thought that the goal of moving to an appointment-based schedule was to distribute workload, improve department efficiency, and minimize customer delays. This trend is most unfortunate and will result in future service visits with my mechanic. More
