Competence, and honesty When they say they inspect your vehicle every time it's brought in for service, they mean just that. Last year, the night before I brought my Prius in When they say they inspect your vehicle every time it's brought in for service, they mean just that. Last year, the night before I brought my Prius in for service, there was a sweet yet alien aroma in it. Couldn't figure out what it was, thought it was from a bakery I passed, but it persisted. I really didn't think much of it, until the service advisor came out, and said "Your water pump is just beginning to go. You can drive it for a while, or we can replace it for you. " Having broken down many years ago on the New York State Thruway with a broken water pump, it was no contest. The water pump was replaced, that visit. This past visit, I was informed that a nail had been found in my tire, and that there would be a fee for dismounting the tire, welding in a patch, rebalancing, etc. I okayed expending the money. What happened? Turns out the nail (actually, a small screw) was lodged in the tread, and hadn't penetrated the tire's carcass. Result? No charge for the removal of the offending object. Honesty, as depicted by both of these incidents, are why I continue to have my Prius serviced by this dealership. Notably, even through a change in ownership, the competence and honesty of the service department has changed not one bit. That is key. This is what an automobile dealership is supposed to be like.
