A few weeks after leasing my 2025 XC60 I discovered, when my registration arrived, that Riley failed to install the front license plate bracket which is essential for mounting the plate. When I called, they my registration arrived, that Riley failed to install the front license plate bracket which is essential for mounting the plate. When I called, they told to me to bring the car back. I told them I was 30 miles away, in NY, and that my local local Volvo dealer was just a two mile drive. They said I could go there. The NY dealer charged me $49 for the bracket. Naturally,I expected Riley would reimburse me and called my salesman. He demurred, saying Riley would have done it for free. Incredulous that there was any pushback, I responded that this was RILEY’S MISTAKE, and that I was a mere 2 miles from the NY dealer and shouldn’t have been further inconvenienced by having to go 60 miles round trip to Riley for Riley’s benefit. I also explained that driving in NY without a front plate is ILLEGAL and would have exposed me to a moving violation (Section 402 NY Vehicle and Traffic Law). (I no longer had the temporary “plate”.) I then asked my salesman for assurances that Riley would take care of it. He said his managers had gone for the day, he couldn’t very well pay out of his own pocket, and that he didn’t have the authority to agree to reimburse me the $49. REALLY? A seasoned salesman didn’t have the discretion —or common sense —to reassure his customer that his dealership would pay for their error and reimburse their customer $49 for an integral part of the car they failed to install? This was bad enough, but it got even worse. The next day, even the General Manager refused. Riley’s solution to a problem they caused was entirely self serving, requiring the customer who was wronged to drive 60 miles round trip to them so they could avoid having to absorb a $49 expense, completely indifferent to the fact that their customer would not only be massively inconvenienced, but risk being fined for a moving violation. INEXPLICABLE that Riley would choose to alienate a new customer who leased her 5th Volvo over a measly $49. INEXPLICABLE that Riley dug their heels in. They had an opportunity to rectify their mistake and protect their relationship with a new customer (as well as their reputation) by reimbursing me for a $49 part THEY FAILED to install on a brand new $52K car and arbitrarily refused to do so. THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION FOR THIS POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Common themes of negative reviews on this and other sites include reports of unprofessional behavior and unresponsiveneas of staff, including management, mostly in recent years. Riley may once have been a reputable “family” business, yet it appears from the litany of complaints that the Riley of today would prefer to give stock responses to negative feedback after the fact than be proactive and do the right thing by their customers in the first place. Don’t fall, like I did, for the empty promise on their website that “Unlike corporate dealerships… a "Riley" is always eager to . . . help however necessary,” which is clearly a vestige of an earlier time. The “help” needed in my situation had to have been among the simplest Riley had to render. It was a such an easy ask. And yet…. There are many Volvo dealers in the Tristate area who would love to serve you. Ask yourself if the Riley of today, based on these customer experiences, deserves your money and your trust. Or if it is better avoided. More
My XC90 is 30 days old and has no heat. At Riley speaking to the GM Jameson Riley, I inform him his service department says many Volvo have that problem. Jameson answer flawed me "we sell c At Riley speaking to the GM Jameson Riley, I inform him his service department says many Volvo have that problem. Jameson answer flawed me "we sell cars her we don't make them" talk about tarnishing the brand name. A GM who arrogantly then tells me a returning customer their question is silly. They did not help me, offer a solution and when I said I would have to contact Volvo HQ, I was asked to leave the premises. Night and day to Lexus. I trust Jameson dad who most likly started the company could teach Riley leadership some manner. Riley just look at the reviews well below 3 More
Stay away from Riley Volvo! I regret purchasing a new Volvo XC60 from this dealership. The service department put the incorrect oil in my engine. It's a good thing I check my oi I regret purchasing a new Volvo XC60 from this dealership. The service department put the incorrect oil in my engine. It's a good thing I check my oil after each service...that's how I noticed the difference in the oil viscosity. The oil was almost clear and like water. The service manager attempted to deny the fact that the service tech messed up (or Riley decided to use cheaper oil against the Volvo operating standards/service manual), but then he admitted I was correct. The service department is dishonest and unresponsive. I have life safety issues outstanding as well, but Riley Volvo doesn't care...no response. My tire situation can cause a severe accident. I know Riley Volvo doesn't care about me (their customer), but obviously public safety doesn't matter either. While I purchased a Volvo for safety, I have put myself at risk due to Riley Volvo. I contacted the owner/General Manager (J. Riley) four times and I have yet to hear back. More
BEWARE! ! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE- DISHONEST Purchased Certified Preowned 2020 XC90. 1 week later we had windows down for first time and thought we heard ! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE- DISHONEST Purchased Certified Preowned 2020 XC90. 1 week later we had windows down for first time and thought we heard noise from rear tire but thought maybe just road noise. Then we didnt hear the noise for a few weeks then heard it again. 4 weeks after purchase we decided to have their service dept look at it to make sure it was just road noise. They couldnt squeeze us in until 10 days later!!! They inform us that alignment is off and rear tires have unevenly worn to the point of needing replacement. They said they will only charge us $724.62 plus tax for the 2 tires. We feel they should replace the tires at no charge when we drove only 1900 miles since purchase. They state they replaced the front tires prior to purchase but not the rear. Obviously this AWD vehicle the rear tires needed replacing too. We refused the work to be done and decided to go to our own tire shop! SURPRISE SURPRISE!! The alignment was not off!!!! See attached photo showing before and after alignment. Vehicle was already in alignment!!! That means Riley sold us car with bad rear tires. We told Jameson Riley we wouldnt use their business anymore and neither would our friends or family! He accuses us of threatening him (see attached photo) and keeps blaming us for not noticing noise until 1 week later and not coming in until 5 weeks later. He has since refused to give us any documentation from our visit to the service dept showing our alignment was off.... Why? Because alignment was not off! We got sold a car with bad tires. We ended up getting the tires replaced at a reputable tire shop and they did the job for very close to the same price that Riley said was "their cost".... This tire shop also told us that there is virtually no way the tires were worn that bad after our purchase and they too feel we were sold a car with bad tires. Riley Volvo is great and professional until they get your money! Once you sign on the dotted line ($42,000+).... They no longer are so nice and helpful. Again... AVOID this dealership and if you don't you will regret it later!!! More
This is my second time posting a review, because Volvo had it removed. Our car was picked up from our driveway by Volvo for routine servicing and returned to us with a 2 foot crack in the windshield. This had it removed. Our car was picked up from our driveway by Volvo for routine servicing and returned to us with a 2 foot crack in the windshield. This crack was not there prior. Volvo's protocol is to take photos of your car (as is all dealerships/car rental companies) BEFORE they drive your car to document any damage. This was not done, they said their app wasn't working but the valet had an iPhone so could have used his camera. They took a photo later at the dealership after driving our car, claiming it was likely a tiny chip that spread once on the lift. They called after service and said they could repair the crack for $1600. This crack happened on their watch, if they did not document any chip or crack before they drove our car, then it happened on their watch. They did not follow their own protocol and refuse to take any responsibility. The service department and dealership owner have been rude, unprofessional, and unresponsive. We have never been so disappointed with service anywhere, it is completely unacceptable to have your car returned from routine service with a 2 foot crack in your windshield. We own 3 Volvos, and will never return there. More

Since I bought my Volvo S60 over ten years from Riley Motors, they have been maintaining/repairing the car. They have always been prompt and reliable and their costs have been moderate. I especially valu Motors, they have been maintaining/repairing the car. They have always been prompt and reliable and their costs have been moderate. I especially value their Valet service, it saves me a lot of time and inconvenience. Based on my long term experience I highly recommend this dealership.. More
