Buying is the easy part I couldn't ask for better service when I bought my new 2015 Avalon. Price was fair and the experience was fine. But buying is a one-time exercise and I couldn't ask for better service when I bought my new 2015 Avalon. Price was fair and the experience was fine. But buying is a one-time exercise and service is where I think a dealership gets truly defined. The routine servicing during the warranty period was performed fine but took hours of time irrespective of appointment. And anything remotely out of the ordinary -- say problems with Entune -- required leaving the car for the day. Today I took the car in for routine oil change with a $34.95 coupon sent to me as a customer. When I go to pay (after over an hour wait even with having an appointment) I'm charged $56.60 and I'm informed the fine print on the coupon set a limit of 5 quarts of oil and the Avalon takes 7 quarts. I'm also charged $1.14 for the oil filter gasket and an additional $4.37 for supplies and disposal. The service tech tells me with synthetic oil routine servicing is every 10,000 miles and "don't let anyone tell you otherwise." The new oil change reminder sticker on my window has me returning in 4,000 miles. When I buy a new car I want the same level of courtesy extended throughout the ownership experience, not only when I'm writing a big check. Lacking that my next purchase will be elsewhere. More
