**I am Updating My Review After posting about my experience, I received an email from the dealership expressing great concern over my dissatisfaction with my recent visit. They have made this right experience, I received an email from the dealership expressing great concern over my dissatisfaction with my recent visit. They have made this right by apologizing for the wait times to complete the work and refunding me for the key. From my correspondence with the dealership, the key was needed to troubleshoot and give them access to the body control module so the keys could be programmed—at least that's my layman's understanding of it. I was impressed by the quick response, as I thought the review would go nowhere. With that said, Rick Hendrick Buick GMC is genuinely very concerned about customer perception and satisfaction for all customers who visit their facility. I am only giving 4 stars as i had to go through this review process to get this resolved. I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent service appointment regarding the programming of customer-supplied keys and key fobs for my newly purchased 2018 Sierra 1500. Despite my thorough research and purchase of what appeared to be the correct aftermarket keys and fobs, I encountered several concerning issues during my visit. Upon arrival, I was immediately informed by the service writer (SW) that the dealership has experienced problems with aftermarket products. Despite my assurance that I had verified the compatibility of my items, the SW remained skeptical. After about an hour, the SW reported that while the wireless fobs programmed flawlessly, there was an issue with programming the physical keys. To resolve this, I was told I needed to purchase a GMC OEM key for $120 each. Reluctantly, I agreed. The service was further delayed by a malfunction in the dealership’s key cutting machine, resulting in another hour of waiting. Eventually, I left with my newly programmed key fobs, one GMC OEM key, and two aftermarket keys. Out of curiosity, I later tested the aftermarket keys and found they worked flawlessly without any issues. This experience raises serious concerns and questions: Did the technicians even attempt to program the aftermarket keys after the initial failure? Was the purchase of the $120 GMC OEM key truly necessary? Based on these events, I feel that I was upsold an unnecessary item and should be refunded for the unneeded key. This situation has significantly impacted my confidence in the dealership's service department, particularly regarding their diagnosis and recommendations for more complex and expensive repairs. While the service writer communicated well and kept me informed, I am left questioning the thoroughness and honesty of the service provided. More
