Customer Oriented and Willing to Deal We were in need of a new car so we set out on a Thursday to go car shopping. We went to a few dealerships on "Dealership Row" and felt that the salesm We were in need of a new car so we set out on a Thursday to go car shopping. We went to a few dealerships on "Dealership Row" and felt that the salesman were uninterested and unsure of our ability or willingness to buy. It was disappointing to say the least. However, when we pulled into Ray Skillman South we were immediately greeted by the friendly face of David Brown. I can't say enough about how friendly and welcoming he was. I realize he's a salesman and has a job to do, but he felt genuine. He showed us every car we wanted, discussed pricing and features, answered any questions we had and made suggestions. One of our priorities was reliability and affordability in a car. I was looking for basic transportation that was still comfortable but got better fuel economy than my old v8 gas guzzler. We ended up choosing a Mitsubishi Mirage. David just handed us the keys and told us to go for a test drive and there was no need for him to come. It made us feel respected. After the test drive I knew it was the car for us. David grabbed Chris Carter and we discussed financing. They made it work for us very well. We got a rebate on our purchased, what I felt was ample money for my much older unreliable car ($1000) and gave us $1000 off the extended bumper to bumper warranty for the Mirage. We walked out of the dealership grinning from ear to ear. I do have a few complaints. The first of which being that Chris scared us at first when he came back with out credit reports. He is a friendly guy but somewhat rigid in demeanor (not mean at all just unexpected). However, once we got to talking he warmed right up. During the paperwork, I had neglected to ask about a few of the "fees" associated with owning a new car. I came back about a week later when I had free time and sat back down with Chris. He went over the information in detail with me and I really appreciated that. I then understood what each fee was for (they were licensing and registering fees as well as a VIN Glass Etching fee... something all new cars get these days). That felt good to have the transparency in the process. Even after we had purchased the car we felt like we were treated as important to their business. My second major complaint is about Ray Skillman in general. They were a little higher in price than the MSRP at first. The rebate and discounts we got ended up making up for that difference in the end but Ray Skillman could do a little better on their base pricing. Overall it was an excellent experience and I would definitely by from them again. More
