Wow, what a masterclass in why car salesmen are universally despised. I walk in solo—no husband in tow—and immediately, the condescension is thick enough to cut with a butter knife. "Do you need your husband for such a big purchase?" Oh no, Mr. Macho Mahogany Words, I don’t. In fact, I probably make more than you. But thanks for the mansplaining; it pairs nicely with your patronizing tone. Oh, and the salespeople? Didn’t know squat about their own product line. Seriously, how do you know less about the cars you sell every day than I do after a few hours of research? Embarrassing. But hey, they did know how to slap on a sneaky little tax markup to the cost of the vehicle, even though leases already have monthly taxes built into the payment (nice try). I see you, shady math. And of course, the pièce de résistance: doing my homework ahead of time, knowing a ballpark estimate for the payment, and walking in only to watch that number magically double. DOUBLE. I didn’t know dealerships ran a circus on the side, but the dog-and-pony show was in full swing. I think the best part was when they claimed they didn’t “know anything about the $7,500 tax lease credit” and then proceeded to devalue my trade. My vehicle, valued at $19,000 (thanks, KBB), was magically reduced to… exactly $7,500. Subtle, right? Oh wait, no—it was just flat-out insulting. And to be clear, they weren’t even giving me the $7,500 EV rebate—this was just their shady attempt to mask the devaluation of my trade. And just when I thought it couldn’t get any funnier, the manager comes out of the woodwork claiming to have “heard a tick from my motor.” A motor that’s had synthetic oil changes like clockwork every 6,000 miles and only has 63,000 miles on it. LOL, man. Do you moonlight as a psychic? Because that’s the only way you’re hearing a “tick” from my perfectly maintained engine. If you’re a fan of being lied to, disrespected, and generally treated like a fool, by all means, give these jokers a shot. Otherwise, unless you’re a dude (apparently they play by different rules for men), save yourself the headache and go somewhere that isn’t running a dealership-as-a-scam-empire. More
