As we normally do we scheduled our truck for the no charge oil change (included with the purchase).I went in alone (my husband waited in the truck) and was greeted by Juan and other people. As I was be charge oil change (included with the purchase).I went in alone (my husband waited in the truck) and was greeted by Juan and other people. As I was being written up for the service Juan who was assisting me mentioned that at 30 mi the truck needed additional service. He said this right after he mentioned the “no cost” service we had scheduled. He mentioned some of the things that would be done but never mentioned the price of each item or the fact that it was NOT included in the “no charge” service. I understood that he incorporated the 2 services under the “no charge” oil change. I explained to him that we drove down from near San Ysidro and that it would be fine to have everything done at this time. He went ahead and made some notes on his computer and did NOT mention anything about the additional service being out of pocket. I agreed to the service still under the impression that it was at no charge since he never pointed out what the cost would be. He said it would take a few hours and I said it was okay that we were going to be in the area having breakfast and just hanging out. With our dog. At about 12:19 pm my husband received a call/text letting us know that the truck was ready. When I got to the window Juan instructed me to go to the cashier to check out. I normally do this and they just file paperwork and hand me my keys but this time the young lady said I needed to pay $688.! I said what?! I was in shock to even hear I had to pay. I thought that maybe it was an error and explained to her that the service is at no charge because we purchased our brand new truck at the dealership in 2019. I proceeded to ask what the $688 was for and she (for the first time) said that the 30 mil service plus labor was $688. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I NEVER agreed to pay and certainly not that outrageous amount. I told the young lady that I was NEVER informed that I needed to pay anything and certainly not $688. Had I known ahead of time that the cost was over even $100 I wouldn’t have consented to the service. It was the 2nd of the month I had just paid my bills, car payment, insurances etc. I did not have the money to pay. The young woman called Juan and he said yes you agreed to the service. I told him I only agreed to the service because he said it was included with my free of charge oil change.I told him as I looked him directly in the eyes that he did not mention anything about the cost or that there was even a cost! He said I agreed to the service and that he said it would be $180 for one item etc. I again looked him straight in the eyes and I told him he never told me in my face that I would have to pay for anything. It was basically his word against mine. Maybe a misunderstanding? I told him that there was no way I would tell him that I was okay with paying $688. I told him and the young lady that I was sorry but I didn’t have the money. Juan walked away and said he would see if there was something he could do about the bill. I went out and got my husband who asked the cashier what they were charging for. She described the items and cost and we were floored. All that stood out to me was the $400 for labor! We left the car at the dealership at 9:45 or so & picked up at 12:19!!!! $400 for labor is a robbery because what was done was something a that Jiffy lube would do for $49. We could not believe it, there was no way in the world that it cost that much. When Juan came back he said he was able to lower the bill and the company was losing out. The new bill (also outrageous was $490.41. I was still in shock and on the verge of tear but I knew I had to pay to get my keys & truck back. I put the charge on my credit card that I know have to pay on with interest. This was the first time we’ve had such an awful experience. We left angry, upset, disappointed and stressed. I would not recommend anyone else to have to deal with this situation. Unacceptable! More
I was late. The guy that attended, I think his name is Cris, me was very nice and friendly regardless. Told me around what time my car would be done and it was done at exactly around the time he said. Also, to the last question on the resume about how important is the service center to my decision where to buy a car, I have a couple of Ford trucks that I usually take for Ford Kearny Mesa. They have a way fancier and nicer service department from the time you arrive there someone greets you but the quality (friendliness of the staff) is lacking so all of that stuff is overided by the friendliness of the staff here. Would 100% go back to anywhere with friendly staff. More
