BAD USED CAR DEPARTMENT VERY BAD and Dishonest. Boy do I have a story for you... It's not even over yet..... I (Poor working man) went to Preferred Chevrolet Buick GMC 1701 S Beacon Blvd Grand Haven Boy do I have a story for you... It's not even over yet..... I (Poor working man) went to Preferred Chevrolet Buick GMC 1701 S Beacon Blvd Grand Haven, MI 49417 USED car department to buy a used car. On January 15 2018 I test drove many. So far so good right? I finally found the one I wanted. A 2011 Dodge Avenger Mainstreet with the 6 cyl flex-fuel engine in it. It was priced high above blue book specs. They found a bank to finance me and so I proceeded to start the buying process. They have their so-called 3 day and 7 day return or exchange policy plastered all over their web page. Go read it if you want. The car had a 2 month off the lot warranty on the drive train. The salesman told me before I signed the contract that they were throwing in a 1 year 12.000 mile Bumper to Bumper warranty for no extra charge. I finished the purchase and went home with my car. The next morning I had a passenger with me riding and he said that on his side of the car there was NO heat just cold air. This was weird cause I had some heat on my driver's side. So, I called my salesman back the next day and told him and he said no problem, bring it back in and we will fix it. So I dropped it off and took the user car they gave me to drive. 2 days later they said it was done and that I could come and get it. I went back to get it and they said it was the thermostat and housing that was bad and that they changed it and certified it as fixed. I drove it back to Muskegon to my home and what do you think, NO heat at all on the passenger side of the car. SAME problem. I then called my salesman back and told him. He said to bring it back in and he would make sure they fixed it right this time. I dropped it off again and got the user car again. 2 and 1/2 days later I called my salesman back cause no one called me and asked about my car. He had the mechanic call me and tell me that they had their heating and cooling expert check it out and he reported that the heat coming out of the driver's side was as hot as it was supposed to be and so was the heat coming out of the passenger side as hot as it was supposed to be. I said oh really. I went back to pick it up and low and behold, the heat was warm on the driver's side (NOT HOT) and COLD on the passenger's side. I took the mechanic for a ride and had him feel the heat coming out of the passenger's side of the car. He said "Oh, This is cold, not hot. This isn't right at all" I said RIGHT! He said he had to talk to the salesman and would get back to me. He wanted me to take my car with me. My salesman wasn't there that day so I called him on the phone as I was driving my car home. He said turn around and bring it back and take the user car again and he would make sure it was fixed right this time. OK, I waited for 3 1/2 days this time and I called my salesman cause he didn't call me again. This time he said that it was going to be too expensive to fix and their profit wasn't big enough to do that on the sale. In other words, he told me I was screwed. I called his boss and talked to him about it and he said they would do anything they could to make it right. He said to come in and pick out a new car and they would buy mine back and sell me another one. OK, I said. I went there after work to pick out another car and my salesman told me that if I did that I would lose all the taxes I paid on the car I bought already. That's about 500.00 or more. As you might have guessed, I was pissed off by now. The salesman told me that they would fix it for me after all but, I would have to come up with $400.00 more to help offset the cost of a new heater core replacement of $1800.00 and they would pay the rest. I knew that the 1800.00 price was xxxxxxxxx but I agreed to hand over $400.00 more if they changed the heater core (not just flush it out or get it working temporarily to get by a few months) So I went home in the user car again. I spent over 3 weeks and many calls to the dealership waiting for my car with another xx story with every call that my salesman returned to me that it was not done yet. I called the big shot manager of the whole Dealership to try to get it going faster cause this was a stupidly long time to change a heater core in the first place. You can change the Motor, Transmission, and heater core in 3 to four weeks that they had my car. xx The Manager was VERY unfriendly and cocky and treated me like xxxx with his words and attitude. (Please take note that this was the high and mighty Manager himself) Very bad customer relations. He did agree to contact the salesman and mention it to try and find out why. He did. My salesman called back and told me that the car would be done and back to him that night. So I went in the next day and finally got my car with some heat now. I must point out though, The heat on the driver's side is Much warmer than the passenger side. Much... I forked over $400.00 and took my car home. I don't know if they had the heater core changed or not cause they never gave me the old heater core back as I instructed them to do. This is illegal I think. I'll be looking into that also. NOW, About the worthless 1-year warranty, they GAVE ME for 2000.00 dollars. The salesman told me it was a Bumper to bumper 12 month or 12000.00-mile warranty that they THREW in for free. It was actually a 12 month 12000.00 mile Drive Train only warranty that is 10 months more than the out of the lot drive train warranty I got from getting the car from them in the first place. I finally read it all over very closely and found out that I could return the warranty for a full refund if I did it within 2 months of the purchase of it. (which I thought was given to me for free) Per my salesman's words. So. I went in with it to the Salesman's boss cause he said that's who I would have to talk to about it. I said I wanted my money back for the warranty and he said NO PROBLEM and had me sign and date a form for the refund That was on FEB 26th 2018 As of today MARCH 10th 2018, the cancelation of the warranty has NOT been received by the holder of the warranty contract. I've been calling them daily to check. I called the Dealer and they assured me the process is underway. I have no doubt they are dragging their feet again not doing their job. I await the 2000.00 to be sent to my lien holder to remove it from my loan. Nothing yet. In closing I would just like to tell you all honestly, This dealer, at least the Grand Haven one has very shady people working at it. Right up to the top. BEWARE of buying used cars from them. They don't have a clue exactly what they are selling you. This review is very factual and honest I SWARE. My score for Preferred Chevrolet Buick GMC 1701 S Beacon Blvd Grand Haven, MI 49417 is YUCKY!!!!!!! Signed, Poor Working Man UPdate!!!! As of March 22 2018 they are still procrastinating about getting my refund to me for the warranty I didn't want. I still have seen nothing. I've called numerous times and Bertt keeps assuring me it's in the process. I guess it's time to go visit them again and motivate them. Don't ever be stupid as I was to buy a car from these people. UPDATE !!! Oh my gosh people, I finally got results on the cancellation of the Mechanic contract that was very unethically sold to me by Brett. The finance manager of the used car department at preferred Chevrolet in Grand Haven .Today after many calls to the dealer and the contract holders company I got confirmation that it was cancelled and was dated back to the time I signed the paper. I called the general manager of preferred Chevrolet to get this results going he had my salesman do the job of his boss to get the ball rolling finally after the paper I signed was conveniently misplaced. So within two weeks I should have the entire amount refunded to me to my lien holder. All do thanks to my salesman and the GM for getting it going. I'll update when I get the refund actually thank you for reading UPDATE. !!!! Oh my my my.... On April 8th 2018 I got my refund on the bogus contract that Brett gave me. Very important to note it was not Brett who refunded me the GM got a hold of my salesman Marco and results finally occurred while Brett was on vacation thanks a lot Brett So I'm done with this whole mess. Needless to say my next 5 cars will be purchased from Anyone but Preferred Chevrolet of Grand Haven, MI. 49417 In closing. I would like to repeat, Think three times before buying a used car from these people. Or at least read everything Very very closely and for crying out loud!!! Test the car out completely and then some More. Signed; Poor working man. More
shady dealer I negotiated a long distance deal over the phone for a vehicle I saw online. I agreed to come down, about an hour and a half drive in 11 days, at Pr I negotiated a long distance deal over the phone for a vehicle I saw online. I agreed to come down, about an hour and a half drive in 11 days, at Preferred's request, I was ready sooner. They needed to sell another vehicle to free up a "bonus tag". I left a credit card deposit, they charged my card instantly, and were supposed to get back to me in a few days with the final numbers, tax, GM card points, etc. 7 days later I call my salesman's cell phone as I did before only to have him not answer or return my calls for two days. On the second day of calling I noticed the vehicle I was buying is now removed form their website. On the third day I blocked my phone number from the caller I.D. and believe it or not my salesman answers the phone immediately. Now I am told there is no "bonus tag" available, but they would be happy to order me a new vehicle, of course at a higher price than previously negotiated. After more lying I find out the vehicle I was buying was sold to someone else. I guess they were planning on not telling me this and keeping my deposit as long as they could. They did refund it right after I was able to get a hold of them. No integrity, do business elsewhere. I can't imagine what happens there after the sale! More

Another Great Car Buying Experience I have been buying & leasing cars from this dealership since the 1990s. I had a "wait and see" attitude after a recent ownership change. I was alway I have been buying & leasing cars from this dealership since the 1990s. I had a "wait and see" attitude after a recent ownership change. I was always super satisfied with them under the Gage ownership and so far I am also very happy with Preferred. Today I took delivery of a new Buick Lacrosse (a beautiful car) and can not say enough about the wonderful way I was treated throughout the transaction. Derek Endres and Campbell Stephenson, two longtime sales professionals from the Gage organization were in large part responsible for the great car buying experience I just had. The Preferred Family of car dealerships comes with a fine reputation I know. I am very happy that Derek and Campbell are valued by their new employer as they are by their longtime customers. My new friends at Preferred would do well to have any and all new sales associates trained and mentored by Derek and Campbell. Continued success will be the result. Thanks Derek, Thanks Campbell, Thanks Preferred! Steve B. More

Purchased a used care that required Thousands of $ in repair My wife and I purchased a 2004 Mercedes Benz e320 wagon 4 matic from preferred GMC. The salesman was kind and made us feel comfortable and we trusted My wife and I purchased a 2004 Mercedes Benz e320 wagon 4 matic from preferred GMC. The salesman was kind and made us feel comfortable and we trusted him. The are drove well, had some minor problems but manageable. He told us the car was clean and the autocheck concurred. We were confident that a dealer like preferred wouldn't screw us. He said that any car over 100K we do not check and give no warranty. I should have known that was the red flag. We were wrong. 3 days after the purchase I took it to my mechanic and he said you require two new front axles, a new ball joint and the air conditioner was leaking freon and the seal needed replacement. I was so embarrassed and defeated that I had been taken advantage of. The sales staff said we sold it "As Is" and you should have known that these cars need repair. I said I trusted them to sell me a good working car. They said they'd get back to me. They didn't so I called the General Manager, Bob. He said "I'll buy the car back from you". I said we love the car but are disappointed they deceived us. He said that a car that age will have those problems. I said why pass it on to me?I made an appointment to return the car but could not get a ride back from 2.5 hours away. I just decided to give up and accept the fact that preferred auto group in grand haven screwed me. I talk to the GM again and he said we offered to buy it back and I could have gotten you back home. This is their tactic, to tell you things after the fact. That is shady and not forthcoming. I love the car and it is perfect for my family of 4 kids and would rather have a car without these problems. The offer to buy back the car is the easy way out and they should have looked it over and fixed it first before selling it to me. Buyer beware please dont get screwed like we did. More
Buyer BEWARE! Purchased a vehicle on 7/9/2014 from this location. Sold to me as a certified Pre-Owned, and now they are claiming that the vehicle was not certified Purchased a vehicle on 7/9/2014 from this location. Sold to me as a certified Pre-Owned, and now they are claiming that the vehicle was not certified and will cover none of the repairs. I have filed a Better Business Bureau complaint. I have basically been told that because I purchased the vehicle through the Grand Haven Location instead of the Muskegon location, that the Certification was voided. I was lied to and would never recommend this business to anyone else. Have had to have the vehicle back for brake problems, transmission problems and a bad starter all within the first 2 months. Run, don't walk away from this place! More
