Horrible experience due to extreme lack of ethics and poor business practices that seem to be "business as usual" at Power Ford. Purchased a new truck, or so they told me, and traded my existing vehicle poor business practices that seem to be "business as usual" at Power Ford. Purchased a new truck, or so they told me, and traded my existing vehicle in. I opted to purchase an extended warranty and service plan, and signed all paperwork the same evening, with the Finance Manager inside Power Ford's dealership and showroom. As I was leaving with the new Ford, he promised me that they were going to take care of the registration and title right away and that I'd have a license plate ready to install within a few weeks. (NM law requires dealership to take care of TT&L within 30 days of purchase on all financed new vehicle sales). 30 days pass, then 60, and still no registration or license plate. I call and speak to the finance manager, who assures me that they are working on it. 90 days pass, then 4 months, and still no plates or registration. Once again, I contact Power Ford, who gives me some lame excuse that they need more documentation that I'm a resident of NM... since I guess the proof of insurance, full insurance binder, full credit report, current registration & plates on vehicle that I traded in, and copy of ID, all of which they had when I purchased the vehicle, were not enough documentation. Nonetheless, I sent them what they requested, which was nothing more than a cell phone and credit card statement with my name and address on them. Much to my surprise, another 30 and 60 days goes by and still no registration or license plate. My insurance company contacted me to get the license plate #, and was surprised to hear that I did not have one after having possession of the vehicle for 6 months. Next thing I know, they would not renew my coverage because the vehicle was not registered to me, forcing me to obtain more expensive coverage from another provider. I tried reaching the sales manager at Power Ford, but no response. Then, I attempted to use the scheduled service plan that I purchased for the 1st oil change/scheduled service, and opted to do this at a different dealership, being unhappy with the situation with Power Ford. The other Ford dealer could not locate the service plan or any record of the vehicle being sold to me. In fact, they informed me that it was still listed in Power Ford's inventory (approx 7-8 months after I purchased it). I contacted the 3rd party provider for the service plan & extended warranty, who informed me that the orders for my extra coverages had been placed but never paid for or activated, and that someone from Power Ford had since called and cancelled the orders altogether. I spoke to Sales Manager, Brian Austin, who said that he would send me proof that the coverages were activated and paid for, but never did. He also assured me that they were working on getting the vehicle registered, but could not explain why it was taking so long or what the problem was. Shortly after my exchanges with Mr. Austin, I was in contact with the auto lender, who Power Ford works with and transferred the loan to right away, and they were furious when they learned that the vehicle still hadn't been registered or properly titled. They assured me that they were going to work on my behalf to resolve the matter, which is the opposite of what they really did. Within a few weeks, I received a letter from an attorney informing me that they were calling the note due because the loan was in default due to not being registered or properly titled after about 10 months from when I purchased it. I was instructed to pay in full or surrender the vehicle within 30 days. Unfortunately, it was impossible to refinance with another lender without the registration, title or license plate. About 10 days prior to the 30 day deadline, the lender and Power Ford worked together and ordered a repossession. The lender returned the vehicle to Power Ford, who transferred ownership to another dealership, who resold the vehicle. Their actions were illegal, fraudulent, & very costly. More
