We contacted Poway Honda by email after seeing a used Mazda at an attractive price on CarGurus. They responded promptly and answered our initial round of questions. .We then asked for their Out-The-Door Mazda at an attractive price on CarGurus. They responded promptly and answered our initial round of questions. .We then asked for their Out-The-Door price and were pleasantly surprised to receive a total that only added tax, title, and licence costs… no extra paint protection,, tinting, reconditioning, or other unwanted junk fees. We searched for months to find an honest dealership selling at reasonable, advertised prices, without any of the typical dealership shenanigans or last moment surprises. We bought the car and feel good about their straightforward, no-pressure purchasing experience. More

I have always used this dealership for servicing all my vehicle but never purchased from Poway until today. I did have many choices regarding dealers but Poway offer the best overall solution for me on vehicle but never purchased from Poway until today. I did have many choices regarding dealers but Poway offer the best overall solution for me on the first call. I have happy with my new car, the cost and what I received for my trade. It is not the same world with all the chip shortages but Poway made my visit quick, & smooth. Again I am very happy for the attention and value given in making my buying experience a pleasant one. I will be back personally and feel good recommending Poway to friends and family More
The overall buying experience was fine. Luis was a pleasure to work with, friendly and kept things moving. Definitely satisfied with the vehicle we purchased. I was less than impressed Luis was a pleasure to work with, friendly and kept things moving. Definitely satisfied with the vehicle we purchased. I was less than impressed however with the tactics used in negotiating the value of our trade in. For background, I’m the sole breadwinner for my wife and our 3 kids. Our 3rd child was just born and we needed to switch to a minivan, but those cars are popular and going fast. I wanted to put a “hold” on one of their last Odysseys but our trade-in wasn’t going to be ready until the next day. I was told “no problem - just sign the deal now and you can come back tomorrow with your trade in and we will rewrite the contract with your trade-in and the new monthly payment.” Seemed fine and it was apparently the only way I could hold the car we wanted (and frankly, needed). Our trade in vehicle was a 3 year old large SUV, with low mileage, no significant issues, overall well cared for. My research through multiple avenues (including several instant cash offers) indicated the car was worth $29,000 - $32,000. This would take a substantial amount off our financing amount for the new Odyssey, which is part of why I agreed to buy that car. Just to be fool proof, I even submitted for an instant cash offer through the same dealership and it came back at nearly $28,000. Lower than anticipated, but not crazy. The next day, I brought in our car to finalize the trade in. Surprise surprise, they valued it at $25,000, way below fair market price and what their own instant cash offer was. When I brought up my concerns about the significant undervaluing of our car, I was told “I have nothing to do with it, it goes to an offsite location and this is what they gave us.” No explanation for why it was several thousand dollars below fair market price, and below their own previous instant cash offer (given earlier in the day). And because I had already signed the deal on the car the day before, there was no going back - I was stuck with either (a) financing the full amount of the car for a monthly payment outside our budget, or (b) take a big loss on the value of our trade-in. I had no choice but to take choice (b). This kind of practice frankly strikes me as dishonest and I can’t describe how frustrating it was to deal with. This is the definition of a “bait and switch.” I definitely felt taken advantage of. I would be able to understand an undervaluing if there were problems with the car that needed significant attention - body damage, maintenance issues, etc. but none of that was the case. The car will sell for a great price and they’ll make plenty of money. Overall again, the purchase experience itself was fine. Be prepared for them to spend more time trying to sell you an extended service contract than any other part of the sale. And fair warning if you’re going for a trade in - get your car appraised elsewhere first, perhaps Carmax or another used car dealer before bringing yours here. More
