Death Trap I had a serious problem on the Belt Pkwy TWICE. My Sante Fe suddenly just accelerated on it's own. I tried braking, pumping the brakes several times w I had a serious problem on the Belt Pkwy TWICE. My Sante Fe suddenly just accelerated on it's own. I tried braking, pumping the brakes several times with no effect. The car kept accelerating and would NOT stop or slow down. In order to stop the car before crashing into the car in front of me or the guardrail I had to shift the car into PARK . The engine just raced like crazy. After a couple of times trying to restart the car it finally started correctly. I brought it into Plaza Hyundai for service on March 10th...2 days after the incident. They said it was the Full Body Throttle and the Accelerator Sensor They also said I needed a Fuel Injector Service. This amounted to a $2,300.00 service bill. They claimed that the problem was resolved and the car was safe. I drove it, locally, for 11 days. On the 12th day, again on the Belt Pkwy. it happened AGAIN. My wife and I were almost killed. Luckily, I was right at the entrance to a parking field and was able to shoot into it. Once again, in order to stop the car I had to shift immediately into Park. This time the car would NOT idle correctly when I kept trying to restart it. I had to have it towed off the parkway to my home. The next day I had it towed to Plaza Hyundai. Even the tow truck driver said he never saw a car accelerate like this. It was totally UNSAFE to drive. This time they said it was the Accelerator Assembly Cable and came with an additional $116.00 service charge. Once again Plaza Service has said the car is fixed and the problem is resolved. They have also said the car is absolutely safe. That's what they said the first time. I don't understand why this "Accelerator Assembly Cable" problem wasn't found the first time since they claimed to have changed the "Full Body Throttle". This should have been diagnosed and resolved the first time and not put me, my family and anyone else"s life in jeopardy. Does this mean that the work done the first time for which I paid $2,300.00 was not necessary but just a way for Plaza to rip people off. I no longer feel safe driving this car and will only drive it locally. My wife absolutely refuses to ride in this car and my daughter and son-in-law refuse for me to put my grandson, who is only 3 weeks old in this car. At this point I don't have much option but to search for a new car.....and I doubt it will from Plaza. I don't trust your service managers or mechanics. PS....I have filed a complaint with Hyundai, the Better Business Bureau and have considered going to a lawyer. Your mechanics almost killed me and my wife. I More
unsure well in past was very unhappy. now with going for oil change on sunday i had a credit with plaza, which was not honored without a manager on premises. well in past was very unhappy. now with going for oil change on sunday i had a credit with plaza, which was not honored without a manager on premises.and left without servicing. having to come back during week, spoke with manager and service was done and done quickly. also recalls were checked and performed. i finally received service i believe everyone should receive i am very happy hopefully this will continue.
