UNPROFESSIONAL SALES PROCESS After making calling the sales department at Planet Honda I experienced the most aggressive response from them of any of the multiple dealerships I ha After making calling the sales department at Planet Honda I experienced the most aggressive response from them of any of the multiple dealerships I have contacted in the past few weeks. It is not unusual for the sales people and their managers at car dealerships to be a little assertive, but I should have listened to my instincts about the excessive amount of phone calls, emails, and texts messages I received in less than twenty four hour period from Planet Honda. I first spoke with Rickey who hounded me until after close the next evening, which was just within hours of a national holiday. Ray, a sales manager called me repeatedly, and sent me several emails as well. I was literally bombarded with over 20 text messages, emails, and phone calls. Unfortunately, I decided to visit the dealership any way. Rickey was not in that day, so instructed me to speak with Roland. Roland showed me a few vehicles on line and asked me within minutes of sitting down with him if I wanted to purchase one of them today. I thought this was comical as he was far more concerned about making a sale than for his customer to shop for an ideal situation for them. I reminded him that I had neither yet seen, nor test driven any cars. He took me for a test drive and asked me again if I wanted to make a purchase. I again reminded him that I could not make that decision and that I had expressed that I wanted to at least see one more option. I was not able to drive the second car due to snow in the parking lot, so :Roland and I just got in to look at it. He asked me if I wanted to buy the car. I still was not sure, but told him that I preferred that one than the first one. He mumbled something about not wasting time if I didn't think I wanted it. We went back inside and he asked me at his desk to make up my mind. I told him it was a large purchase and that I needed to think about it for a few minutes. Roland responded in a cocky manner and said directly, "You can tell me no and you can tell me yes, but don't tell me you want to think about it." I honestly wanted to tell him right there, just tell him where he could shove it and walk out, I kept my cool and insisted I needed five measly minutes. I went ahead with the deal, waited on the finance department, signed my contract and after four hours exited the building with Roland expecting to get into my car and finally go home. It was not the vehicle I had chosen. I acknowledged to Roland that there was a mistake in communication. I thought we were going with the last car that I had seen, the one I said I liked better than the first one that I test drove. Roland was not apologetic. Instead of handling the mistake and having me go back inside to work on the contract for the other car he pretty much argued with me, tried to defend himself and made me feel stupid. After all the hounding from the sales department at Planet Honda it turns out that there is no training implemented for confirming the correct vehicle during the purchase process. I was so tired that it had not occurred to me that at no point did my sales representative say, "so we are going ahead the such and such model. Mike, the sales manager never said, "We are moving forward on the financing for the such and such vehicle," or while in finance, "this is the vehicle you are purchasing for such and such payments for such and such term," etc. Every time I have purchased a car this process has been in place. I was pretty put off at this point and was no longer interested in doing business with them. It was late on a holiday eve and I was ready to go home. Even while I had been at Planet Honda Rickey was still sending me messages asking if I was going down there. If he was so concerned to hear whether or not they had gotten me he should have bugged his own team about it. After I left Planet Honda without a new car, Rickey continued to message me. I resorted to sending him a stern response briefing what happened and warned him in capitals to cease all contact with me immediately. Rickey did not. He instead called me repeatedly until I finally answered by asking him if he wanted me to call the police. He did not take this seriously until I yelled at him telling him I would report him for harassment then he hung up. To say the least, I was completely livid, I called Mike, the sales manager and gave him a few once overs. The sales team at Planet Honda were not just incompetent, they acted like a pack of rabid wolves just to waste my time and leave me disappointed, so I freely gave them a piece of my mind. The only reason I gave a two star rating on customer service is strictly because John in finance is such an amazing human being. He was the only pleasant part of my experience. Ultimately, I am actually quite happy about the fact that the sales manager at Planet Honda also facilitated the screwing up of my sale. I realized there was a better vehicle for me and got a great deal at Emich Volkswagen, who's staff were just absolutely terrific! More
