After looking over the Ford website to find the available options needed, I submitted a request through Edmonds to find a local dealer to help with the purchase of my first new vehicle. With no experience buying new I was mentally prepared to get "sold, adjusted and modified" in the process but Jennifer met my need in every detail with no need for further negotiation! The whole process was so overwhelmingly smooth I left the dealership with my new truck feeling a little guilty for not experiencing the abuse I had anticipated. They did not have an exact match for what I needed and Jennifer took the time to find it at an out of state dealership, brought it in and still gave me the best price match I could find searching dealerships up to 600 miles away! There was a common sales thread at the other dealerships I attempted to buy from that included come on in, bring your trade and we should be able to get "close" to the best deal I had found in Kansas. None of them with the exception of the Kansas dealership would give me a final out the door price minus my trade but Jennifer. I was able to literally buy it over the phone. I had researched my trade in and knew exactly what it would take to do the deal. The first offer was only $500 below my expectation and it only took about 90 seconds to get me what I needed. My wife and I arrived at Phil Long Ford on a Saturday afternoon and were purely window shopping. While we were in the market for a new or used vehicle for my wife, we had just begun to look and had not d afternoon and were purely window shopping. While we were in the market for a new or used vehicle for my wife, we had just begun to look and had not decided at that time on a make, model, or year. We were interested in a used car that my wife had found while searching on-line, and immediately met Derrick who tried to locate the vehicle on the lot for us. When it was determined that it had been sold, we figured that while we were there we may as well sticker shop some of the new Fords and see what kind of deals could be found. Derrick was very attentive to our needs as well as our budget. We found several vehicles that suited both, and Derrick quickly arranged for a test drive. Whereas the other dealers that day had seemed rushed, nervous or inexperienced, Derrick was very well versed in his product and was very easy for us to talk to. He selected a route that allowed us to experience the vehicle on various types of roads (city, neighborhood, foothills, highway, etc) and was engaging and responsive to our questions the entire time. Upon returning from our test drive, we were certain that the 2014 Ford Escape SE 4WD was the car for us, provided that Derrick and the team at Phil Long Ford could get close to our budget. After some negotiating we were able to reach an agreement and I had the pleasure of watching my wife - who had thought coming in that day that she could do no better than a 3 or 4 year old car with high miles - purchase her first ever brand new car. We left Derrick and Phil Long Ford feeling like we'd gotten a fair and honest deal, and we've been thrilled with the vehicle as well as the follow-up and personal service that we've received from Derrick ever since.
