Penske Honda’s service department either screwed me over, Penske Honda’s service department either screwed me over, is seriously incompetent, or both. I brought my 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid in for service on Penske Honda’s service department either screwed me over, is seriously incompetent, or both. I brought my 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid in for service on 08/24/11 due to a check engine light. I was told an oxygen sensor needed replaced which cost me $486.88 along with a $177.28 charge for diagnosing. Just a couple days later, the check engine light came back on along with the battery light this time. The IMS also stopped working. It was several weeks until I could take it back in which I was then told that the IMS was out and I needed to pay over $2,600 for a new Hybrid battery – They told me it wasn’t the main battery. Obviously I became suspicious as I challenged service writer Shelley to the possibility that a totally different engine problem could occur within just a few days. She responded something like, “Yes, I see that every day it is very likely that as we fixed the original problem and a new problem immediately started”. I left without spending any more in repairs. A few weeks later my car started showing some electrical problems and eventually died on me. I got a jump on the main battery and later spent about $70 at Wal-Mart for a new battery. I hadn’t even pulled out of the Wal-Mart parking lot and the IMS immediately kicked back on as the hybrid battery was fully functioning. I now know the IMS won’t work on a Civic Hybrid if the main battery isn’t fully functioning. Of course I went back to Penske Honda to confront them and demand my repair money be reimbursed. I still have the check engine light but I have no intentions of letting them touch my car again. This time their service writer Shelley had no lines to give me and directed me to their Service Manager Jeff Bell. While waiting, they had someone start vacuuming my car (as if that would settle me down from spending nearly $500 for a part I didn’t need) to which I immediately instructed them to get away from my car. As I explained my situation to Service Manager Jeff Bell, he wouldn’t even make eye contact with me for a good 10 seconds to make sure I knew how unimportant I was to him. He defended his department’s performance and stated that nothing wrong was done. I suggested maybe they didn’t since they could try to get me to spend thousands on a new hybrid battery that supposedly needed replaced even though it works just fine when the main battery is functioning properly. Jeff Bell explained it away stating, “There could be 90 different codes and we go by what it tells us” to which I replied, “Well I can’t afford to spend money on 90 different parts so maybe your people should be mechanics and try to find out what’s wrong with it instead of just going by a code and charging me for parts I obviously don’t need”. He didn’t have a response to that or admit any wrong-doing. I had to leave because he just kept playing games with me. Again, though my IMS works perfectly again, the engine light is still on. I will take it elsewhere, so any suggestions are appreciated. I would no longer even trust my car to Penske Honda for an oil change, which I regrettably have done for the past 6 years. More

This visit was to purchase my second Honda Accord. My first car-buying experience with Penske was in April 2009. Mr. Park sold me my first Honda, a 2009 Accord. Customer service and treating each person as an individual, not just another customer to push through the process, is a hallmark of Penske Honda in both sales and service. Therefore, I returned to buy my 2012 Honda Accord from Penske Honda and Song Park. I specifically requested Red Basque Pearl II with a V-6. He found it for me. The purchase process went smoothly. I have recommended Penske Honda to friends. One purchased her silver 2010 Honda Accord there. Thank you for making my car-buying experience a good one. More
Excellent. We replaced my Civic last year with Bill. We had such a good experience that when it was time to replace my wife's CrV, we went back to Bill Edney. We shopped in Muncie (where we live) at the H had such a good experience that when it was time to replace my wife's CrV, we went back to Bill Edney. We shopped in Muncie (where we live) at the Honda dealer there, but was unimpressed with the quality of the sales staff.
