I brought in a used 2008 Mini Clubman to be inspected to which they qouted me $3,000 dollars in repairs. My trusted mechanic qouted under half of that based off the paperwork from Mini of Alexandria! I made an appointment for 9am and my car was not returned until after 11 am! They told me it would only be an hour for the multipoint inspection and diagnosis. When I left the lot my brakes were all of a sudden squeeky and my car no longer functioned the way it did just 2hrs before. It began to shudder upon pressing the gas and the check engine light was on 45 min later. I brought the car back to them and asked why this was happening all of a sudden; to which the first woman I spoke with told me they actually dont do a diagnosis during a multi point inspection ( it is clearly listed on my reciept as a part of their inspection ) Mr. Gomez then imformed me that he was the mechanic who worked on my car and the other employee didn't know what she was talking about. He said nothing he did would have caused that to happen and that the valves were mis-firing to which he qouted me 795.00 to change the spark plugs and coils. I drove the car from Manassas to DC twice and experienced none of these problems prior to bringing my car here. Understanding that things are not perfect with used vehicles I let the spark plug incident go...BUT THEN.. When I returned home I noticed that my windshield was cracked from the inside!!!! The crack begins under the hood!!! It definetly was NOT like this before I brought it here. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!! Now I have to replace my windshield which is very unexpected when I had inspected the vehicle at the dealer I bought it from for 2 hours my self just two days before. I paid $6000 dollars cash for this VA inspected vehicle only to have the maker of the vehicle destroy it!!! I would suggest only having vehicles under their warranty worked on here because otherwise you may leave with your vehicle in worse shape than when you brought it in. And apparently this isnt the first time their employees have damaged someones car! More
2003 Mini Cooper S Brought it in to replace power steering pump and fan. DAVE says it's under warranty and it'll be ready next day. Next day FRANK calls and says it'll Brought it in to replace power steering pump and fan. DAVE says it's under warranty and it'll be ready next day. Next day FRANK calls and says it'll be $1500 and won't be ready for two more days. No thanks. I'll pick it up today. They still charged me $130 just to tell me EXACTLY what I said "still needs power steering pump and fan". Talk about "bait and hook". Ingenious to say the least. More
I brought my Cooper S in for service after being told by another dealership that I have $1100 worth of services that were, apparently, "not covered" by my rather expensive extended warranty. The previous de another dealership that I have $1100 worth of services that were, apparently, "not covered" by my rather expensive extended warranty. The previous dealership charged me my warranty deductible of $100 for services/repairs which they did NOT fix. David Rockwell, Passport Mini of Alexandria, not only evaluated the so called "required repairs" for validity; but also, contacted Fidelity Warranty Services to address the coverage(s) and the have the deductible waived for services performed at they're location. Overall, my experience with Passport Mini of Alexandria was, by far, the absolute best service and customer care I have ever experienced; and, is all in thanks to David!!! More
Purchased a 2009 Mini Cooper S. In less than a year - rear tire goes flat - discovered a bubble. Rims were damaged when I purchased vehicle - they buffed out - but should have known would lead to future rear tire goes flat - discovered a bubble. Rims were damaged when I purchased vehicle - they buffed out - but should have known would lead to future problems. Found out the hood of the car had been repainted (non manufacturer) if Mini of Alexandria is as good as they say they are with inspections - they would have seen this - which I fully believe they did and choose not to say a word to me - since it had a clean car fax report...legally they probably did not feel they had to be honest and disclose. Extremely disappointed...do not trust them. I traded in my perfect 2008 Acura TL with no scratch or mechanical issues. I will take this to the regional level and hold them accountable. More
This review is for service. Alexandria Mini is very quick to call you back and schedule service, in contrast to Sterling Mini. I am an out of town client and I travelled to the DC area to have my Mini serviced on a Saturday. I dropped the car off at 8am and returned at 3pm after not having been contacted all day. My service adviso to have my Mini serviced on a Saturday. I dropped the car off at 8am and returned at 3pm after not having been contacted all day. My service advisor (William) explained that my thermostat had gone bad, and even though he had the necessary parts in stock his warranty repairs were "too high" and therefore I would have to wait until monday for his manager to sign off on that repair. Thats right, he wanted me to stay in DC for 2 extra days and get a hotel room because he needed a signature to do the warranty work that my car needed. He eventually conceded that his solution wasn't acceptable and he gave me a loaner car to bring home and told me he would arrange a way to get my car back to me, and I was happy. THEN I didn't hear from them until Wednesday, he called to confirm my address and said my car was on the way home tomorrow. Finally I had to call the dealership at 5pm on Thursday because my car wasn't home and I hadn't heard anything. I got the General Manager on the phone, explained the situation to him, and he was clearly frustrated, BUT with me, not his employees. He told me I had to drive back to DC if I wanted my car (4 hours each way, 8 total) and that I should have known better to have taken his loaner car. Then he said if I would pay $400 he would get a truck to bring me my car. They have only been a MINI dealer for 8 months, but they have a long way to go. Oh, I also learned that David Hellmuth, the General Manager that I dealt with, was the owner's brother, not sure if he has earned his position or not, but you certainly couldn't prove it by me. More
