Worth the extra drive to me to get treated right It's a 90 minute drive for me to get to this dealer. There is a closer one less than 30 minutes from my home. But experience has taught me that the probability of being treated fairly and honestly is far greater when I drive the longer distance. I feel strongly about having my new cars serviced where I purchased them. It might be construed as loyalty but it just makes sense to me and I feel that Parks of Gainesville has a genuine interest in my satisfaction. This new 2017 Tucson Limited is not the first vehicle I've purchased there. I have had A+ service from them most of the time and the few times there were glitches, they were addressed in a friendly, efficient manner. The sales representative working with me this time was Chris Clark. He did a very good job, a fact that is impressive to me because he was not feeling well during part of the time we were communicating and also the fact that he is relatively new at his profession. He seemed to have an excellent command of how everything worked on the vehicle. His instructions given to my wife and myself were clear and thorough. He was friendly and patient with us. He accompanied us as we test drove 4 different vehicles; he handled that very well. When my wife and I were ready to make our choice he gave advice that was helpful and has retrospectively turned out to be very correct. Those who trained him did a good job and I suspect that he has taken the bull by the horns and done a lot of independent learning on his own time. I expect that he will do well with this dealership. Sales Manager, Scott Wright, was a pleasure to work with. I did not feel as though my intelligence was being insulted by either Chris or Scott. They did not play games. So often, prepared potential buyers who do their research and know what they want are jerked around by sales people in their scripted presentations and pitches that are no more convincing that a typical pro wrestling match on television. This has not been my experience at Parks. I was also pleased immensely by the efficiency of Business Manager, Laura Batten, and the efforts of Service Advisor, Nate Klemp, when he took the time to introduce himself and assure me that I would get stellar servicing of my new vehicle. It was the efficiency and knowledge of certain mechanics in the service department that sold me on Parks Hyundai in 2011 when I made my first purchase there. To be more specific: At the unnamed dealership nearby that I learned to avoid back in 2011 when I was looking at Velosters no one was able (or would take the time) to educate me on the dual-clutch transmission. The salesman I talked to knew nothing about it and the service rep. that he advised me to talk to told me that "dual clutch" was just another term for a "continuously variable transmission." Intuitively, I knew that was wrong. The next day when I went to Parks in Gainesville I was actually shown a very fine video of how a dual clutch transmission works while mechanic Jason Nowacki explained it. What a great experience. On that note, I'd like to add that in my opinion the 7 speed dual-clutch transmission on my new Tucson is a great improvement over the 6 speed dual-clutch of my Veloster. There are some people who still like to be part of the driving experience and both of those transmissions allow for that when it is desired. But in the automatic mode, the 7 speed is a work of art. I highly recommend it. I can't imagine anyone like myself being happy with a CVT. Some of them even have fake shifts programmed in. That would bother me beyond belief. But, in all fairness - "different strokes for different folks." I recommend to everyone I meet who is interested in my vehicles that Parks Hyundai is the place to go where they are most likely to end up satisfied. And you just can't beat the comfort that you get from the Warranties and the free Roadside Service (if needed) that goes with each new Hyundai purchase. More
