There is no chance of finding yourself stuffed with a car salesman into some depressing cluttered cubicle you are grateful isn't your daily work prison. In my fantasy of the perfect dealership the complementary snack cafe would only have fresh fruit, ready to eat veggies, and whole grain real food instead of the processed edible food like substances and health destroying soda Michael Pollan warns us about regularly in the New York Times. There would also be a quiet garden space away from the road. Process While the activity of learning about and buying a car is still made needlessly difficult by old school car sale people things were very different for me here. (Try finding out the price from Liberty Mazda, they want to keep it a secret unless you have to buy a car from them that very moment. Btw, the Forester is so much peppier than the CX-7 and has AWD too!) Before visiting I called the manager Mike and asked him how I could have a good and hassle free buying experience at his dealership. We discussed specifics of what I was interested in doing, my trade-in, and prices. He arranged for a product specialist, Lucas Casella, to show me the car, tell me all about Subaru, and answer every question I might have. This was wonderful. Lucas didn't sell anything, at any time. He was a fountain of real information, good and bad, about the car (no car is perfect). Gone was the annoying attempts to figure out where in the buying process I was, and the seemingly endless questions from sales people that have nothing to do with their product. Lucas was all about the Subaru and he explained a lot of the reasons why the design evolved the way it did. Subaru does a lot of small, but very smart things to make their products so darn good. Prices While we were out with the Forester my trade-in was appraised. The dealership made a reasonable offer, but I wanted to pay about invoice. In a very short back and forth we settled on what was about NADA estimate for my trade-in and invoice price for the Subaru. What little waiting there was I spent on line, they have wireless for guests. This also made it easy to pull up a price quote emailed to me by the crazy local dealer and check other car web sites while making the arrangements. I couldn't imagine making a purchasing decision without all of the pricing data at my fingertips, and North Reading Subaru makes it easy to do so right in their cool loft. (Why go home and look it up, just do it all right there and know that you are getting what you want!) People This is really what sets the experience apart. It started with Mike the manager, who was honest, direct, reasonable, and personable. Clearly Mike's attitude continued with the people he has hired. Lucas was better than anyone else I have ever met at a dealership. He is intelligent, articulate, and experienced with cars. He understands what not to ask about, what is important, and is naturally polite. Lucas made sure everything was perfect when I picked up my Forrester. While I might not have found him as 'adorable' as SuetheSubaru did in her helpful (January 13, 2010) review he would do well on any sofa. Heck, I would even let him date my little sister. So when I began thinking about purchasing a new car I immediately planned to check the new dealership out. As I entered the showroom I was warmly welcomed by Adam King. The atmosphere was gleaming, the new models sparkled, and huge clumps of happy balloons floated above us! I thought: This will be fun! Adam and I sat down to discuss what I was looking for and I did have definite thoughts. We did a trial ride but the color wasn't for me. Adam gathered my requirements and told me he would be in touch soon. He called me a few days later to say he had some cars for me to look at. He was so patient with no sales pressure nor did he send me to other salespeople. All in all it was a very comfortable and totally satisfying transaction. Steve, the business manager was also most gracious and helpful. I would highly recommend this dealership to anyone. More

They weren't the closest Subaru dealership - however, they are head and shoulders above their competition and well worth the drive. Overall, I had a very satisfying experiene at North Reading Subaru. Rhett, my salesperson, was exceptionally knowledgeable about his product and spent a generous amount of time explaining the parts of Reading Subaru. He did not bore me with additional information. He provided both information as well as a live walk-around to showcase pertinent elements of the vehicle. He was never pushy, he met at a convenient time for me, and he even picked me up at my residence on the day of purchase (since I had sold my vehicle and did not have transportation to the dealership). Mike made the process of leasing the vehicle very streamlined. Negotiating was straight-forward, with the invoice provided for my viewing, and he welcomed comparison shopping from within the industry, as I have a brother who works in the automotive industry. There was no badgering, no excessive phone calls, and no pressure to lease the vehicle. The price was fair, the people involved pleasant, and the experience laid-back. I would definitely recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a Subauru. More
