Safi Billah - Professional and Honest On a Saturday, I saw a 2018 Honda Clarity Plug In Hybrid Touring listed on the Dealer Website. It was raining pretty hard, however, I went in to go f On a Saturday, I saw a 2018 Honda Clarity Plug In Hybrid Touring listed on the Dealer Website. It was raining pretty hard, however, I went in to go find the vehicle and saw it was there. I asked a person going by if they worked at the dealership and he said yes. I asked him if I would be able to test drive a specific vehicle. He then called in for Safi Billah. Safi came and I told him I was interested in test driving a vehicle, however, before I did that, I wanted to make sure that the ad that was on their Website was correct and they would honor the price. Safi checked with his manager and said yes. We then test drove the vehicle and Safi was showing me the features. When we got back to the dealership, I told him I was interested in purchasing it. We went in and I started giving Safi the information. I then asked Safi if they will be able to honor me getting the same price on the same 2018 model with a different exterior and interior color before pulling my credit report. Safi went and checked with his manager and he came back and said yes. I was excited. Then all of a sudden, they ran my credit score and Safi walked back with his manager. At this point, I knew this was not a good sign. The manager (I did not catch his name) came, shook my hand, and basically said that I would have to buy the original car in the ad and that technically the car has to be sold as used. It only had 261 miles and they want to tell me it is used? So we talked some more, and then I asked if I would be able to get the Federal and State incentives. The manager went back and came back with a no because it was already claimed. Then the manager started to sell me on a "new" vehicle for "just a couple thousand more dollars". I said no. I told him I do not want a 2019 and to honor the price of the 2018 ad that they have listed. I told the manager that I saw the color of the same exact car in the 2018 model and that I am not interested in 2019. The manager basically shook my hand and said sorry we cannot make the deal and walked away. I was looking for 2018 because Honda Finance had 0.9% financing on the 2018 Clarity and 4.9% on the 2019. I then told Safi that I was not happy about the whole ordeal. Safi said he understood my frustration and he was also shocked about how low the vehicle was priced. Anyways, I went home and 1 or 2 hours later, I get a call from a manager named "Ed". Ed asked what happened so I told him the entire story. Ed then said he would go talk to Safi. The next day (Sunday), I emailed Safi about how people do not like car salesmen for this exact reason with pulling bait and switch techniques. I told him I was honest with him from the get go and I did not even bargain down on the price. I then gave them a second chance and told him that the most I would pay would be about $1500 more for a "new" Clarity (whether is it is 2018 or 2019.. I did not say the year). Safi then called me back and said he can make it happen on a new 2019 Clarity Touring. I asked him again, what about on a 2018, and he said no. I asked him how can I be sure you guys won't pull the bait and switch again. He assured me that he has talked to Ed and everything is 100% true on what he is saying. He then asked what time I will be there today to make it happen. I told him that I would have to talk to my wife and also depends on looking at the Prius Prime. Anyhow, I made an appointment for that day. I took my wife and kids in to see the 2019 Clarity around 6:30 PM first. My wife liked the interior. Safi then took me in and showed me the price that they were going to honor and showed the breakdown. I told him I would not finance with them because that is too high and he said that will be fine. I then also told him that I needed to go see the Prius Prime before I made my decision. He said that would be fine as well. My wife and kids went to the Toyota dealership down the road and saw the Prius Prime Advance and did not like it because of the 4 seat configuration and the inside just seemed cheap. It was now about 8:15 PM on a Sunday and my kids were hungry so we needed to get food for them. I called Safi back and asked him if they would still honor the deal. He said if I came in today then yes. So we arrived back to the dealership around 8:45 PM and he had all the paperwork ready to go. He honored his word and gave me the 2019 Clarity Touring on the agreed price. All in all, I got a great deal and I am very happy that Ed and Safi were able to make things right. This is how it should be from the get go so people can have a positive car buying experience. Safi was honest with me the whole time, however, Safi was not the ultimate decision maker so it was not really his fault. When we made the final deal, I told Safi that Ed had called me and I was curious as to what he and Ed talked about. Safi explained to me what he told Ed. I knew from there on, Safi was a very genuine person. I would recommend you see Safi Billah anytime you want to buy a car. He is very knowledgeable and understanding. Thanks Safi for getting me a great deal and keeping your guys' word. A+ More
