The problem wasn't the pricing per se, but how the pricing was presented. I never leased a car before, so it was gratifying when the salesman pointed out that "everything was covered" in the way of repairs. I had laid out in front of me what my trade-in was, and what the monthly payment would be. Then, near the end of the ordeal, I was told that the minimum I could pay for repair coverage was another $900, which would increase the payment about $24 per month. If I'm even able to complete the lease, I will drive this new car less than 3000 miles. So I have to pay $900 to cover repairs, in advance? If your new car can reasonably expect to incur that much in repairs in the first 3000 miles of use, perhaps the Toyota salesman I talked to was being truthful when he warned me that Nissan had "quality control" issues!
