I purchase my Nissan in September of 2012 and have had my share of issues with this vehicle. Transmission was intermittently acting up and making a lot of strange noises. I first went to two other Nissan dealers who basically blew me off! I simply asked for an appointment to speak to the Service Director Mike Keenan. I sat with him, he LISTENED to me, (something no one else would do) and then we came to decision together to best remedy the situation. Within a few days my problem was solved and have had no further issues with this vehicle since! I am now even bringing my husbands BMW to Nissan of Huntington Service Department for most services!!!! Joanna was extremely helpful in advising me with the best options and prices in regards to service on my Nissan 2007 Sentra. My compression tire light had been on for months after I had bought my Nissan, and even after multiple oil changes, the tire light still remained on. Although I was reassured that there was nothing wrong with my tires, I did not like to drive around with a warning for my tire light on...I didn't feel safe. Joanna provided me with the right information, friendly advice and service to help fix my car and to avoid this problem for the future. Her help at the Nissan Dealership was extremely beneficial and useful for future visits. More
I have a 2008 Nissan Altima. Took is recently to get an oil change and have them look at a noise the car was making that I suspected was due to the heat shield. Got my vehicle in January 2008 from another oil change and have them look at a noise the car was making that I suspected was due to the heat shield. Got my vehicle in January 2008 from another dealership and they listed an incorrect number of miles on my extended warranty. 7yr/80k instead of 7yr/100k. I got that squared away by Feb 2008. The service advisor at Habberstad said I cancelled my warranty in January 2008. I knew this not to be the case because I spoke to Nissan North America specifically regarding this issue and was told my warranty would expire Jan 2015 or 100k mi whichever was sooner. Fast forward to this service in April 2011. Since I was essentially denied warranty and didn't want to spend the 99 diagnostic fee when I easily spent 1-2k on the warranty I said skip it.... I was there for an oil change and inspection. Drop the car off at 9, was looking to have it by 12. The car wasn't ready until about 4! It ruined my whole Saturday, I had made plans to go to the city. I even called around 2 to check, but still not ready. I called Legend Nissan to get them to confirm the warranty coverage on the vehicle, but the rep at Habberstad said they couldn't honor it. It has to be from Nissan Corporate... Really? wtf Later the following week I call Nissan North America and explain the situation to them. A regional service rep got involved on my behalf and spoke to a rep at Habberstad. They confirmed I had warranty coverage as previously indicated. I have 3 friends who are currently leasing vehicles through Habberstad and another one who got 2 of his friends to get leases through them. Not to mention I knew a former service manager and receptionist who worked there. On top of that I brought my previous Nissan Maxima there and easily got over $1000 in service done there. This dealership doesn't value customer service. They say they do but their actions speak volumes. I refuse to give my business to a company that treats people like garbage. I live in Huntington and this dealership is within walking distance from my house, but never again. I am tired of bending over and taking their nonsense. After 6 years going there I'm done. I advise anyone in the area to try Legend or Smithtown Nissan (which sucked also up until recently apparently). I think Jiffy Lube would even do a better job of helping someone. They charged me $50 once to change a lightbulb a couple years back. DONE More
Even before I purchased my 370Z I came to Habberstad to test drive my dream car. They told me they currently didnt have any Z's for test driving on the lot and they would call me as soon as they get one in test drive my dream car. They told me they currently didnt have any Z's for test driving on the lot and they would call me as soon as they get one in. As I am leaving the dealer, I see somebody return from a test drive in a new Z... I also never got a call back. Later when I was ready to buy, Habberstad tried to sell me a dealer vehicle, meaning the car had been driven by the dealer for 4,000 miles! What is worse, they tried to sell it to me at the cost of a brand new car. They are out of their minds if they think somebody is going to buy an enthusiast car after 4k miles (and hopefully oil changes) at that cost. I bought my Z elsewhere (Rothrock Nissan in Allentown, PA, they were awesome compared to Habberstad). Now as Habberstad is close to my home, I brought it there to have a tire replaced after just 4000 miles in the car (tire developed a flat and massive and dangerous bubbles) and to honor a Technical Service Bulletin for my non-functioning rear hatch springs. Guess what? They did neither. Claimed the tire was my fault - yeah as if I would drive on a completely flat and bubbly tire that caused the car to shake violently!? Then they said the TSB was not relevant as my hatch did not make the correct "clicking" noise when pressed. This has nothing to do with a clicking noise, it has to do with the fact that the springs that come from the factory to pop open the hatch do not work. Worst customer service ever. Anthony the service manager was very happy for me to take my business elsewhere. And I will, but not without rating them terribly first. I have to admit I was very happy to see their god-awful rating on this site, at least people will be warned. More
I was talked into a package for 120,000 mile which include tire balance and rotation, fluids change, spark plugs and full diagnostics. The cost was $650, and i was advised on recommended repairs such include tire balance and rotation, fluids change, spark plugs and full diagnostics. The cost was $650, and i was advised on recommended repairs such as timing belt replacement. I asked about a squeak in the front end and first they said it was the belts, but the squeak occurred when the car was not running. I came back and asked again and they advise shocks and struts be replaced, but i said no due the price. I had a torn boot on my front 4x4 axle and the priced replacement at $370 plus tax, but i said no due to the price. I drove off feeling rushed out and unsatisfied that i paid too much for the service i got and that they did not do a thorough diagnosis. I later went to another garage and had the axle replace for $140 total and they took a quick look at other things and noticed there was virtually no coolant in the radiator and the valve covers were leaking. My suspicion of poor service and lack of real diagnosis was confirmed. Habberstad Nissan did not even check the radiator or compression as part of "full check" for $650. The simplest of things like this could have caused me a blown engine. The service front persons lie about when the car will be ready all day long, you cannot talk to the person working on your car or even get close to your car to see a problem if they find one and the service person who does talk to you looks at you like you have insulted his mother by asking to look at something again or if you suggest they may have missed something. I do NOT recommend buying or servicing with Habberstad Nissan ever. More
I had to bring my Armada back to Habberstad for a remote start issue (they installed) and was stopped by the service manager when I picked up my vehicle regarding the review I had posted on this site. I ha start issue (they installed) and was stopped by the service manager when I picked up my vehicle regarding the review I had posted on this site. I had completely forgotten about the review until he printed it out for me. After re-reading the review I had posted, I explained to him my position and why I felt that his behavior was not customer service oriented - especially to a customer who purchased two vehicles from Habberstad. We had a lengthy discussion and he ultimately apologized for his behavior and for my prior experience; a commendable gesture. I am happy to see that Dealerrater.com is viewed by dealerships, and I hope my original review has caused a behavioral change, or at least given Habberstad reason to reflect upon their customer service. Whereas I have not reached a point where I would recommend this dealership, I would hope that I can in the future as I would much rather write a good review than a bad one. More
Do NOT buy from Habberstad Nissan! I bought a 350z from them in 2006 with extended warranty (75k). My car has been burning oil like crazy since day one. I have receipts showing that I have to buy oil or ge them in 2006 with extended warranty (75k). My car has been burning oil like crazy since day one. I have receipts showing that I have to buy oil or get an oil change almost every 3-4 weeks. I took it to Nissan for a diagnostics which they charged me $97.50 + tax (even under warranty). Instead of properly checking the motor for burning oil, they tried to sell me a tune up for over $500!!! /// 2:55 Nov 11th Phone call: Anthony (service manager), "listen, listen, call nissan and ask them where you can bring your car. Don't bring it here". ///// I purchased the car from this dealership and look how they treat me now!!! Stay away from them!!! More
