I entered this local Nissan dealership yesterday looking to replace a 2010 Nissan Maxima recently lost to an accident. I encountered a salesman, Carlos Ortiz, who showed me a few vehicles in their used car to replace a 2010 Nissan Maxima recently lost to an accident. I encountered a salesman, Carlos Ortiz, who showed me a few vehicles in their used car inventory to consider. I expressed interest in a particular vehicle and sat with the salesman to negotiate a best price. After the usual round after round negotiating tactics resulting finally in the sales manager,Kerri joining the conversation I was offered a price of $18,900 as their best offer, which I verbally agreed to. They insisted that I would need to take the car the same day to get that price. Though already very late in the afternoon I agreed if the car would be properly and quickly readied for delivery. The salesman then tells me his service personnel are waiting to start prepping the car immediately and takes the car into their garage. Meanwhile I am in the showroom waiting for a finance manager to prepare the paperwork for signing. After waiting in the showroom for an hour I decide to check on the car to see the preparation progress. The car still dirty and just sitting in the shop with no one anywhere around it. Now it is nearly 4 hours after initially entering the dealership. I am asked to sit with the finance manager to sign the paperwork. I had already told everyone in the negotiating process I currently have a 1.69% interest rate auto loan with Chase based on excellent credit I would again expect. The finance manager tells me they can legally add 2 pts to the interest rate offered the customer by the bank. After refusing any rate higher than the rates the banks actually offered me (which he finally showed to me), I reluctantly agree to the 2.14% rate he says Chase offered. Now he says the deal BEFORE TAX TITLE AND DMV will be $21,700. That figure is $2800 higher than the number agreed to by all parties. When I questioned him as to the much higher cost he tells me it included a used car warranty (not even mentioned by anyone to this point). I tell him to remove it as I am not interested in it (especially since I had just secured a Allstate bumper-to-bumper warranty for the same length of time for $1200 on the exact same vehicle 2 months before). Now he tells me that if I don't purchase the extended $2800 warranty, the dealer probably will not do the deal because they will not make enough money. I tell him I want the deal agreed to, $18900 and will not agree to anything more. He comes back and says now they will not do the deal because they had assumed (without even asking) that I would pay the extra $2800 for the warranty "because most people take it". I have been a sales professional for over 40 years with 2 decades of sales management experience for a Fortune 500 company. I have also leased and purchased many cars in my lifetime. I can without hesitation say this was BY A MILE the absolute worst sales experience I have ever been involved with and borders on deceptive and fraudulent business practice. More
From the moment we entered we were greeted with friendly faces from reception to sales. Jayson was our salesperson and was extremely friendly. We met Cary the Sales Manager and he was just as friendly as Jayson and made the usual stressful car buying experience easy and not too stressful at all. We had the usual wait time for registration and insurance but that is expected and cannot be controlled. We received the new car the same night but had to return the second night to complete some paperwork as it was very late.Everything went very smoothly and no complaints at all. We leased the Nissan Sentra. We are very happy with it and would absolutely go back to Nissan of Huntington to when we are ready to turn this car in or purchase another car. We highly recommend them! Alex and Cary were helped me find a new car since the end of my lease was approaching. The car came with all the features that I wanted and I was able to lease the car for the price I wanted as well.
