I was in search of a specific car, a 2010 Xterra Off Road. The people at Sutherlin greeted me warmly and introduced me to Jeff Lockhart. In all my years of buying cars in Michigan, Illinois, and Pennsylvania, I've never had such a great experience buying a car as I did with Jeff at Sutherlin. He was honest and up-front on every issue and question (no matter how silly or small) that I had. He accompanied me through a number of cars, never pushing or selling, and made the final purchase smooth, easy, and above all, fun and enjoyable. I spent 30 years in the advertising business, many of those on automotive clients. I also created The International Automotive Advertising Awards. The biggest problem with getting people to buy cars is the final experience that they have with a dealership. The car economy would get a huge boost if all the dealerships were as good as Sutherlin Nissan. From the top down, these people are platinum .... with extra kudos to Jeff. April was great at her follow to be sure that my appointment time with Forest Jones was convenient. Great job April! Your receptionist staff is inviting and quite professional both on the phone and in person. When I first arrived to the dealership, I was instantly greeted by Slavek Kondrashov and was introduced to Forest Jones. I found that Forest is quite approachable and is very much interested in his customer’s needs, concerns and sensitive to their situations. Forest handed me over to Slavek who took the time to be sure that he understood my needs and only showed me the inventory that fits my lifestyle and price range. Let me take a second here to explain the obstacles that had to be overcome. My husband lost his job in October of 2008, we were struggling to put it mildly and recently lost a vehicle to repossession, which of course created a very weak credit score. This was devastating and embarrassing to my family. I was convinced that neither you, nor any other dealership, would be able to help me find a newer car. Buy here pay here type dealerships were seemingly my only option and I checked into them but I didn’t want to purchase an older car with questionable reliability or work with questionable businesses. A word about Slovek, once other dealership’s salesmen realized my stressed credit rating, the salesmen would lower their level of customer service with me by working with another customer at the same time. Slovek took the time, at a risk a sale might not be able to happen, to be sure my needs were met and I was placed in a vehicle that fit my lifestyle and one that the bank would approve me in. There were other customers that day that a sale would have moved smoothly, I know this because I was very observant of what was going on around me, but he dedicated his time to me and only focused on my purchase. This is quite meaningful to me and will be a repeat customer for many years to come. Please be sure that Slovek receives the accolades that are very much deserving to him. He is an asset and a gentleman; it was not hard to feel confident that the vehicle I purchased from Slovek would be exactly what I need. Trust is very important to any customer and relationship building is key to make any sale, these are qualities that Slovek possesses. He kept my nerves calm, kept me focused, and remained very reassuring that a deal could be made. This leads me to my dealings with Mike Bickel. Mike treated me with dignity and respect, regardless of my financial mis-steps or unemployment woes. Mike kept working the best finance deal available. He was quite upfront and didn’t make any promises that wouldn’t be able to be kept. Mike left me with the impression that he was not going to give up on me. Mike also provided much needed financial and credit advice that is solid and will be followed so that I can continue my challenge to improve my credit score. Where many Finance Managers can be intimidating and put off by the challenge, Mike really worked hard for this customer and I so appreciate it. I am in a vehicle that is reliable, stylish and, most important, affordable in my tight budget. Through Mike’s hard work and dedication I feel that I have been vindicated over my circumstance and given the opportunity to prove myself and have the proper loan that will rebuild my credit score. While I do believe that every business organization must always consider the bottom line, Sutherlin Nissan does it by treating the customer with respect. I felt during my whole transaction my needs were kept in the forefront, my budget was always in consideration and never felt intimidated or least deserving because of my credit issues. This is the second vehicle I have obtained from Sutherlin Nissan. The first was a 2007 Pathfinder 39 month lease that Jeff Lockhart arranged. He remembered me from the Pathfiner lease and greeted me with a big smile and a handshake. He was so helpful the first time that I thought I probably couldn't go wrong working with him again. When I had the final inspection of my vehicle at home, I decided to stop into Sutherlin the next day to see Jeff. I was glad that I did because his no nonsense approach and ability to meet the customer's needs made selecting another new vehicle easy. Never pushy but always available, and very friendly - he is every car buyer's dream salesman. He answered every question I had, didn't rush me into making any decisions, and obviously knew his product well. Jeff is a real pro and I will probably stick with Nissan again when I'm ready for another vehicle. Of course, I will seek out Jeff's help when I do. More
