DO NOT GET MUFFLER SERVICE AT COOKEVILLE NISSAN My son's 2012 Sentra exhaust system became very loud & he took it to the Nissan Cookeville service department. Nissan Cookeville charged $70 to invest My son's 2012 Sentra exhaust system became very loud & he took it to the Nissan Cookeville service department. Nissan Cookeville charged $70 to investigate the root cause which took them no more than FIVE minutes to determine the muffler was broken. They quoted $775 (approx. $375 parts & $350 labor) to replace the muffler; the labor quoted was 3 hours. We chose not to get it fixed due to the excessive cost, but still had to pay the $70 for their 5 minutes of investigation (my math shows this to be a $840 hourly rate). I went to Midas & got the muffler fixed for $56 (FIFTY SIX DOLLARS). The Midas mechanic crawled under the car and identified the problem in 2 minutes. The muffler had a broken flange which they have seen many times on Nissan vehicles. Midas quoted a muffler replacement for $200 (compared to the Nissan $775 quote). I chose a Midas $56 weld repair over the muffler replacement to save money. I don't understand why it takes Nissan 3 hours to install a muffler & others can do it in well less than an hour. The answer is GREED. Nissan should be ashamed of abusing their customers with their excessive rates. More
