Hi, You never came by or contacted us about an alternator issue 2 days later. Your mechanic charged you way too much for the job. We could have fixed it for $200. And since your mechanic was under the hood to fixed the alternator, he would have noticed a problem with the engine so the engine was clearly ok when you left his shop. We spoke to you yesterday and you stated that the oil light came on while your son was driving it. You told us that your son continued driving it with the warning light on. That said, it was driving good when you purchased it and no warning lights were on. You can never continue to drive a vehicle with a warning light on. If you would have called us when the light came on we would have instructed you to shut engine off and check your oil. Or you could have got your vehicle to us and we would have been more than happy to check it out. The vehicle you purchased was $4k and was sold AS-IS. We also offered you a warranty which would have covered the altinanator / engine and other major repairs which you declined which signed a "waiver of warranty". We are sorry you had an issue with your used vehicle and would like to help you. If you like, please bring your vehicle in to us and we'll see what happed and try and help you. Joe

That is not accurate. We told you the oil light came on when he was driving to work and he was just about there. He went to look and was going to try to get oil on his lunch break and the oil light was no longer on. He never continued to drive it with the light on. The warranty wouldn’t have even covered the astronomical amount it would cost to replace an engine. And the car began making noises while he was driving it home from your lot. We should have done our research beforehand and we would have realized that your business has done this to numerous people. You sold us a lemon and I only hope that if you have children of your own that they don’t ever have to experience something like this.

Our mechanic also replaced the tensioner pulley and a belt so it was $750 for all. We should have contacted you but we were fools and paid to have it done, hoping this would be the last big issue. However with the engine issue it is a whole new problem. The warranty was only to cover $1000, so definitely wouldn’t have covered an engine. Again, our son did not “continue driving with the oil light on”. Not true. Our mechanic also said he did nothing to cause this. If you don’t believe we had to have the work done we are happy to provide the paperwork. We also live a good 25 minutes away and cannot get our car to you because we are not paying for additional towing and then paying you more money to do repairs. As you said, the car was $4000 and sold as is. Regardless, if you think $4000 is so cheap for a 20 year old college student and that $4000 should warrant us getting a piece of crap, then don’t sell this junk!!Yes you sold as is but never in our dreams would we expect you to not honor anything after 12 days. Our fault for being too trusting.

Hi, It's very accurate... You just responded and said, ... "We told you the oil light came on when he was driving to work and he was just about there. He went to look and was going to try to get oil on his lunch break and the oil light was no longer on" So he continued to drive to work when the light was on. When work was over he drove it home. At no point do you mention that he put oil in the car. When that light comes on, the vehicles has to be shut off immediately. If not you can cause damage to your engine. Which seems to be what happened. The warranty waiver you signed lists exactly what is covered. The engine is covered 100% as well as the alternator. I'm sorry you had an issue with your vehicle. The car was driving fine or you would have contacted us two weeks ago when the alternator was installed by your mechanic. And your mechanic did not hear any abnormal noises in the engine at the time of alternator replacement. You would have the same outcome in any vehicle if you drive it with no oil. I would like to let you we are here to help you in any way we can if possible.

No you claim he continued to drive it with the light on. I told you the light went off on its own. And I told you he was going to try to put oil in it. He didn’t because the light turned off. The oil light was on for a brief moment and turned off. He did not cause this engine issue and we were told the warranty was $300 and covered up to $1000. If you would have even worked with us to offer to buy the car back for a portion we would have taken it, but instead we are down the drain all of this money. I get that to you it is a business but you have no conscience

Ekc0416 responded

And there was enough oil!! Nobody said there wasn’t. All a bunch of lies!!

Jun 27, 2023 -

Nick's Auto Sales responded

We would have done the job for much less. The extended warranty has a $5,000 limit which would have covered the alternator and engine 100%. And as I previously stated, your mechanic did not hear any abnormal noises in the engine at the time of the alternator replacement over two weeks ago. Your husband told us he drove the car with the oil light on. From your previous comments he clearly drove to and from work with the light on and never added oil. The car was fine until the oil light came on and your son continued to drive it. And it doesn't matter if the car was $4k or $40k, if you drive with no oil you're going to have the same outcome with the engine. I'm not going to keep responding. We are here to help you in any way we can if possible.

Ekc0416 responded

No I know what we told you. The oil light was briefly on. Oil level was checked and fine, so stop accusing us of doing something. We know you aren’t helping us and hope that nobody else ever experiences what happened to us. You are twisting everything said. He did not ruin the engine because there WAS oil in the car!! End of story

Hey Glen, I just responded to the email you provided. If you don't see it look in your spam. I check all my mail boxes (in-box, sent, spam, trash, etc.) for your email address and it's not in my system. If you sent a previous inquiry it would have been there. I did not have received it for some reason. We do have the 2007 Dodge Dakota in stock. Thanks, Joe www.nicksautosales.net
