I just want to express my disgust in the way I was treated when me and my family came in to look at a used vehicle. There was 0 interest in helping us and their main focus was trying to pull a fast one over on us with an overpriced vehicle and deceptive business practices. They withheld information about financing until I had to question their tactics several times and they began to insult me and fabricate excuses about other Mazda dealers in the area and the comparable vehicles I brought to show them to prove they were SIGNIFICANTLY OVERPRICED on the vehicle we were interested in. The vehicle I was interested in has been sitting for over 3 months at their lot and instead of trying to work a deal they tried to discredit me and the other local Mazda dealers. On top the being overpriced they tried to add $2,000 onto their advertised price WITHOUT EVEN TELLING ME! The salesperson collected our information and ran our credit while being cryptic and he tried real hard to not answer questions and pushed into signing their credit application with multiple spelling mistakes INCLUDING OUR NAMES! These guys are the epitome of "used car salesmen". EDIT 3/12/14 16:07 CST: Last night at 08:14 PM while I was reading my 4 year old Daughter her bedtime story Mario contacted me about the above review. For some reason he believed that I was very satisfied with my experience at Oak Lawn Mazda and then immediately and very condescendingly attempted to apologize for me wanting $5,000 off a vehicle. Seriously. I thought I made my intentions perfectly clear as I explained to Mario and then later Scott or Sean (I apologize, but I don't recall his exact name) when I said "I saw your vehicle online and that I figured it was worth it to come out in case they did have room to work" as the carfax indicated they'd been sitting on the vehicle for around 3 months. Again, I said this exact statement to both Mario and the later manager. My intentions were pure. I don't like to waste anybody's time. I know what I want, I know how it works and I know what I am doing. I still don't know if they heard my intentions or chose to ignore them. The comparable vehicle that JUST sold was essentially the same vehicle for $2,000 less and it was 1 model year newer; even the mileage was almost exact with only a few hundred miles difference. I presented a number what I thought was fair and that's when the fun ensued. Mario excused himself to the sales office and was gone for much longer than the other times he had to go back there while helping us. He came back and genuinely said they just have no where to go on the price, but they'll honor the incorrect price from Mazda's website. I believed him, thanked him for his help and started to leave. I'm not going sit there and argue if they're going to lose money, I know a losing battle when I see it. But, as I was getting up he told me to wait, that he would get the manager. The manager came out and genuinely said the same thing, that hey had no room to work with in price then started to fabricate excuses why this other vehicle was cheaper, "It was wrecked", "not a clean carfax", among other things he didn't have a clue about. I said I checked all of that, it was fine, it's the exact thing as yours except a model year newer. I again attempted to leave and then he starts in on me about the color "It's baby blue! that's $1,000 less right there", I said "It's grey, it's grey in the pictures and it's grey, it's not baby blue" "Nope, it's baby blue! It's less desirable, people don't want it, that's why it's cheap" I finally said "I'm not here to argue with you about color!" and that's when they finally gave up. Oh and I came home and immediately pulled up the pictures of the other vehicle and fortunately enough they took a picture of sticker with the color code; "39T". Guess what color that is?? "Dolphin Grey Mica." Three things really xxxx me off about this experience: 1. I was honest and upfront about our credit, down payment and intentions. I've never had a dealer "force" me the way you have to run my credit. I'm pretty sure that in itself is illegal, but since I was sharp enough to catch what you were doing when you made a comment about financing before running off to the back office real quick you didn't actually run my credit before telling me or signing the application with misspelled information. I thought he was just putting our information into their CRM program. I was suspicious of you not copying our Driver's Licenses before the test drive. Now it makes sense. 2. You tried to tell me that the 0.9% Certified Financing through Mazda was not available and that I saw nothing like it on the Mazda website. Then it was only for new cars. You then played dumb about it until I emphasized the "See dealer for details" on the website, then the story changed. Up until this point my experience was a 5/5. You knew the vehicle and it's features very well. 3. It was obvious that I wasn't going to spend $29,000 on a vehicle you had advertised for $27,000 and another comparable vehicle sold for $25,000 that very same day, but yet you wouldn't let me leave. Don't fabricate information you know nothing of. I tried to reason with this dealer and they couldn't have cared less of what I had to say. Instead the acted defensively as I've so meticulously documented. Mario, I would like to answer your continued statements of "You want(ed) $5,000 off the car!" since you wouldn't let me explain myself in person or over the phone. First off that's not exactly accurate. I DIDN'T KNOW YOU ADDED $2,000 INTO THE ADVERTISED PRICE BECAUSE THERE WAS NO PRICE ON THE VEHICLE AND YOU DIDN'T ACTUALLY TELL US THE PRICE OF THE VEHICLE so all I had to go off of was the ad from Mazda's website that your dealer failed to update and make accurate. In no way is that my fault. So, the truth is I wanted $3,000 off the car for the fact that 1. the market showed it wasn't worth $27k, let alone $29k. 2. The tread on the tires was at 4/32 (Yes, I carry a tread depth gauge when looking at used cars) and with 20" rims I would be looking at putting an additional $1,000+ into new rubber before next winter. 3 (and most importantly) When did car dealerships change how they operate? I present a number, you counter, it's called negotiation. That's what I thought we were doing when YOU said that YOU "handle the vehicle price, those guys in there will deal with financing" while you stood up implying that we were going in back to talk financing and we're done with the "vehicle" aspect of the deal when in reality it never actually began. The above is the 100% god's honest truth. Mario, do not contact me again. Ever. Our conversation last night was inappropriate and unproductive as you wouldn't let me get a word in and gave no regard to anything I had to say and since I see no evidence of further communication being any different then our past encounters, do not call me. I do not appreciate how I was treated in person and especially don't appreciate whatever the xxxx you were trying to accomplish by that phone call last night. More

I found a Porsche on ebay at Oak Lawn Mazda that I was interested in and called to find out if they would trade for my car. Talked to a guy named Scott and, since it is a four hour drive for me, worked o interested in and called to find out if they would trade for my car. Talked to a guy named Scott and, since it is a four hour drive for me, worked out a trade figure over the phone provided that we both liked the other vehicle. When I arrived I saw that they had many used sports cars and luxury cars from Porsche, Mercedes, Ferrari, etc. and so I guess I was expecting an upscale type buying experience. But NO, I was ushered to a cubicle and subjected to every low-life used car salesman ploy in the book! I could NEVER once get an accounting of how they came up with the final price. Everytime I asked they would act very upset and I would find that they had included some "service" or program that I didn't even want. The numbers never did add up. After the salesman went back and forth to his supervisor several times I insisted in talking to the supervisor myself. He subtracted $2500 from the agreed upon value of my car for a little overspray INSIDE the front of the door opening from a small body repair which I had told them about over the phone. Eventually we negotiated the discount and settled in between. I would have walked out twice but I really liked the car and had driven so far to get it. I paid cash but the closing with the credit manager included all the upselling for warrantee, etc.. If someone finds a car online at Oak Lawn Mazda, I would recommend that they look elsewhere and not get involved with this dealership. More
It was awhile ago when I bought a car from this dealership but I see the types of cars I am interested in at this place all the time. They are all over eBay and AutoTrader, as they should be. This dealership but I see the types of cars I am interested in at this place all the time. They are all over eBay and AutoTrader, as they should be. This is a Mazda dealership but they buy a lot of special interest cars. When I say that I mean Lancer Evolution, Cobalt SS, Dodge SRT4, Lotus, Honda Civic SI, Viper, etc. Anyways, I am here to write about my experience with my 2006 Lancer Evolution IX. Long story short, they gave me a lot of money for my trade in, managed to get me my car for a price WAAAAYYYY lower than they originally put on the table, but screwed me in the long run. Why you ask? Well they didn't care to tell me that my car was in an accident and a few panels were replaced, and the T-Bolt clamps on the inter-cooler piping was rusted to xxxx. And yes they did give me the Carfax. What they didn't give me was the AutoCheck, which is where I found all of this out in the first place. Now you cannot tell me that dealership didn't know every single thing about that car when they took ownership of it. They sure as xxxx didn't care to tell me. "Oh it's just a small accident no big deal." WRONG! A 2006 Lancer Evolution is a car that holds its value very well, but with so many on the market an accident can really screw your chance of resell down the road. And one more thing, two days after I bought it I boosted the inter-cooler hose off and ended up having to tow it home because the T-Bolt clamp had rusted off and caused the hose to pop off when I accelerated abruptly. I called and asked if they had any idea why the heck the whole turbo system wasn't inspected and all I got was some idiot blabbing on the phone about how I was pushing the car too hard. I really like the cars they sell here and have strongly considered buying another toy from them, but this whole fiasko makes me not trust them at all. More
