I have been taking my car to Schaumburg Honda for the past 4 years. In the middle of a Chicago winter my heater motor died! Castle Honda was the nearest dealer to where I work. I will never take my car past 4 years. In the middle of a Chicago winter my heater motor died! Castle Honda was the nearest dealer to where I work. I will never take my car to them again. The part that had to be replaced was the blower motor (i had NO heat inside the car!). The Honda retail price of the part was $233.88. I confirmed this price by pulling up the part online, and confirmed with 2 different Honda dealerships in the area that this is the price of the part. Castle Honda charged me over $320 for a part that is AT MOST supposed to me $233.88. When I questioned why the part was so expensive the service manager just said that is how it is priced. I then told him I could purchase the same part from Schaumburg Honda for the normal price, he said he would not be able to lower the price. I asked if I could purchase the part from the other dealer and bring it (in sealed Honda package) in for them to install. He said no because they cannot guarantee the work if the part does not come from them. I could have chosen to not pay the inflated price, and take it to the other dealer, however to diagnose the problem cost me $115, which was then to be applied to the repairs. I was left with such a negative feeling with this service department. I honestly felt like I was had. I have been paying dealer rates for service for years and understand the inflated cost. They gouged me with the price of this part though. I was in a bad spot and they took their opportunity to make some more money off me. The part finally arrived, but they ended up not being thorough and had to order another part (transistor), which surprise was about $30 more expensive than the other DEALERS in my area. After much complaining 10% was taken off of my repair bill (covered Tax). I found this to be much too little, too late. I had to do A LOT of complaining (hey, im even writing a review online about it, so you know I was ticked off). In the end I don’t want a favor of 10% off. Castle Honda ripped me off on the price of their part. Principle is worth more than 10%. I asked the service department if there was anything they could do for me to get the price of that part down to the normal Honda price. I was then told that since I had no history of service with them there was nothing they could do for me. Thanks Castle Honda, you failed to gain a new customer. :) I felt that the service rep I dealt with was dancing around every option I offered to avoid paying their inflated price. Had a very take it or leave it attitude. Save yourself the frustration. Do not take your car for service here. Go to Schaumburg Honda (or ANY other dealership!) More
I went in for an oil change, and I definitely won't go back for anything else, ever. When I was telling my rep what I was in for, he interrupted, told me to go wait at a desk, and walked away. This wa back for anything else, ever. When I was telling my rep what I was in for, he interrupted, told me to go wait at a desk, and walked away. This was *right* after he asked me what I was in to have done. When it was time to pay, he was impatient about me closing up my computer and just told me to follow him. I just left my computer in sight and followed him to the counter where he told me that my car was done and the cashier would take care of me. He could just as easily have taken my paperwork to the front and told me it was there. The biggest problem was outside of the scope of my service. I watched a service rep tell someone with a Civic hybrid CVT that rolling back on hills several feet was normal when starting. The owner has *two* Civic hybrid CVTs, and knew that this was not true. When I later told the reps that the Civic has an anti-creep clutch, one of the reps rolled his eyes and said "so?" I told him that I didn't know the customer, but they should tell him what is wrong with his fairly new Civic. The rep actually mumbled "whatever..." They also left the plastic floor-mat and mirror-hanger tag in my car (like I need more garbage). This dealer won't get a second chance. More
The check engine light was flashing from time to time when i take the car up to 5k to 6 k rpm. So I called Castle Honda's service department to describe the problem. What i was told was that the CHECK when i take the car up to 5k to 6 k rpm. So I called Castle Honda's service department to describe the problem. What i was told was that the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT comes on as a precaution measure when i'm too high in the rpm, mind you the car redlines at around 7k, so i'm not doing anything not within the limit of the car, so i kindly told the service person, if it's a precaution measure, it should come on all the time instead of once in a blue moon; I was told then that unless the light stays on they can't not look at it, I then told him sometimes the code will register even it's only flashing; further more I pointed out that alot of 6 speed 04 models are having the same problem, there is something on hondatech (honda's intranet of some sort) about it describing a faulty crankshaft position sensor; but nope, the code has to stay on. At this point, I just hung up the phone, realize getting my car service by some "professional" that knows less about the car then myself is just not a good idea. So stay away from castle honda in skokie if you need to get the car serviced More
