I know that small businesses have enough difficulty without adding to them with customer complaints, especially when made public. But in this situation I feel it necessary to let people know of my experience so they may hopefully not make the same mistake I did. I will try not to add my opinions, and just stick with the facts. At the end of June 2016, I purchased a pre-owned vehicle from Wilber-Duck Chevrolet. The cost of the vehicle was $20,900. I was told that the vehicle would be fully serviced, inspected, oil changed and ready to go for my long ride home, as I lived out of state. On my ride home, I noticed that the tire pressure gauge was giving very different readings for all 4 tires, ranging from 32psi to 42 psi. I thought that was odd, as the vehicle was just serviced, and tire pressures are one of the easiest and most common things that are checked. Then, a short time later a much more serious warning as my “Check Engine Oil Level” light came on in the dash. I immediately pulled over, and checked the oil. There was none at all registering on the dipstick. I called a dealer (of that brand) who suggested that I come in immediately to have the oil level checked. I also sent a photo of the warning light to my salesperson. He replied that he couldn’t figure out why that would come on, as the vehicle was just serviced and the oil was changed, but he would look into it and call me back. I also sent him a photo of the tire pressure readings. When I arrived at the dealer, they informed me that the vehicle was two and one half quarts of oil low, and the oil was “filthy” and should be changed right away. As it was late in the day on a Friday, they filled the oil and asked that I come back on Monday for the oil change. On Monday, I asked for them to also give the vehicle a thorough check as I had just purchased it and based on the oil not being changed (or apparently even checked), I was not sure it was serviced at all. Upon them finishing that check, the vehicle needed approximately $3500 in service. Some of it was just recommended service that was due, but some was much more imperative. The most urgent was the brakes that were below 5% and were considered “dangerous”. I had the brakes replaced and the oil changed. I immediately contacted my salesperson who again, promised me he would find out what happened and would get back to me right away. I did not hear back from him, so I followed up the next day, and he again, promised to find out why the brakes and oil change were not done. I asked him to please forward me a copy of the service order that showed what was done. I’ve never heard back from him since then. My calls, emails and texts all have gone unanswered. I have never gotten any service record, because (I assume) that there was none. I next tried the owner of the dealership. The first two times, he answered the phone and said “I’m with some people right now, I’ll get right back to you.” Neither time did he return my call. My third call to him finally was returned, and once I told him what the issues were, he told me “There’s nothing we’re going to do for you, we’re all done here.” I asked if he could explain why the vehicle wasn’t serviced, which said all vehicles from his dealership are serviced. I asked if he could tell me why the brakes were not replaced, despite being dangerous. Again, he could not. Why the oil wasn’t changed, to which he could not. So I said, “Are you saying these things didn’t happen? That the light didn’t come on in the dash? That the oil wasn’t low enough to trigger that? That it didn’t need brakes?” To which he replied “There’s nothing we’re going to do for you, we’re all done here.” So in summary, I bought a car from them, was told it would be fully serviced. And upon finding out that it wasn’t serviced at all, they won’t forward me the records of any service they say they did, won’t reimburse me for the oil change that they promised but didn’t do, and won’t reimburse me for the brakes that it urgently needed and would have been serviced. I’m out of pocket just under $1000 for those things, and another $2500 for recommended service because of this dealer’s dishonesty. I would not recommend this dealership. More
Story tellers Got the "we can smoke anyones deals" I was told no matter what. Till you get out there, then you find out how worthless you vehicle is and get it comp Got the "we can smoke anyones deals" I was told no matter what. Till you get out there, then you find out how worthless you vehicle is and get it compared to one they have used for sale with 4-5 thousand less in options on it. So I guess major upgrades have no bearing on value guess you are buying from them. Would not recommend anyone to go there and be insulted as I just was. More
