We purchased a used vehicle from the Murdock Chevrolet at Woods Cross. The vehicle was a 1996 Ford, so future mechanical issues were expected. The salesman was great to work with and kept us in the loop on t Woods Cross. The vehicle was a 1996 Ford, so future mechanical issues were expected. The salesman was great to work with and kept us in the loop on the application process. We asked about current mechanical issues and were assured that the vehicle was very mechanically sound, and that the service department had gone through the truck. We live approximately 4 hours from this dealership, and clarified that we could drive the truck home with no issues. We picked the truck up that evening, looked it over and underneath for any obvious staining on the ground. The truck started right up and sounded like it was running well. After driving just a few exits, the truck started to overheat. We pulled over at a gas station, and the vehicle was out of coolant. We replaced this, and it dumped out the bottom of the truck as quickly as we could fill it. We had to stop at every gas station on the way back to re-fill the coolant, and less than 2 hours into our drive, the clutch on the truck went out. We had to leave the truck 2 hours away from home on the side of the interstate because it was no longer drivable. We contacted the dealership and (in not exact terms) were basically told that we bought the truck as-is and it was our issue now. The salesman did offer to have the service department call us to explain that they did go through the vehicle. Someone with the service department called us, and stated they "are only required to do a safety check", and that the vehicle was not mechanically looked at. They checked the lights, and the seatbelts, and rolled it to the lot for sale. My husband asked him if the felt like brake fluid, coolant, and other fluids could possibly be a safety issue, and was told "no." To note, all fluids on this truck were completely empty. After speaking with the salesman again, I informed him that we bought the truck with the information that the service department had looked through it mechanically and found no issues. He stated that that was his misunderstanding and would see what he could do to resolve it. I received an email back stating that he spoke with his manager, Nancy, and there was nothing further they could do for us. So far, we are 3 days into owning this truck, driven less than 120 miles, and have put over $1,000 into it, with another expected $2,000-$4,000. So far, the clutch, water pump, and injectors need to be replaced. We anticipated future issues with this truck, as it is an older vehicle. However, we signed the paperwork with the assumption that the service department had gone through it and did not find any major mechanical issues. We were mislead and lied to, and unfortunately, this will be at our own expense. Our issues were not directly with the salesman, as it was clearly a misunderstanding between the service department and the sales department. However, the lack of care, compassion, or trying to make things right with us has been astounding. Will never purchase a vehicle from Murdocks again, and will also advise all of our friends not to. They did honor discounts, and stayed true to agreed price, but the salesman switched banks from my bank to a different one without my agreeing to it. It was a Saturday so banks were closed.. and said price, but the salesman switched banks from my bank to a different one without my agreeing to it. It was a Saturday so banks were closed.. and said he would have accessories that I needed, but never actually ordered them. Kind of a take it or leave it and we traveled a few hours to the dealership. Dealership treated us well I guess. Salesman not so much. More
Made a service appointment (7:30 a.m. on May 20) fully two weeks ahead for three things on my 2014 Malibu: an oil change; a "service light" which the handbook says was an emissions issue; and the manual two weeks ahead for three things on my 2014 Malibu: an oil change; a "service light" which the handbook says was an emissions issue; and the manual trunk-pop button didn't work. Inquiring, after a day and a half of no contact from anybody, they said the oil change was done, but they "hadn't been able to get the car to the head of the queue yet for the other two issues." Upon reminding them I'd made the appointment two weeks ago, I was told, astonishingly, that "the appointment only guarantees getting you in, not how long the service will take, the same as any service shop in Utah." It took my breath away. What do we think appointments are for? (The glovebox manual says any dealer has diagnostic equipment to enable them to quickly tell what the specific emissions issue is, and there's got to be dealers where, seeing the appointment two weeks out, ANY parts, or parts access, or expertise for the issues appointed would have been teed up. ) I told them to forget the other two issues, I'd just pick it up with my day-and-a-half oil change. I've been bringing this car to this dealer since 2017 but with this lack of attentiveness I'm wondering why. More
They lie about everything just to get you in the dealership, I was looking at a expedition they texted me saying it passes emissions, then when we gone in there they said it doesn't pass. Then they dealership, I was looking at a expedition they texted me saying it passes emissions, then when we gone in there they said it doesn't pass. Then they just to try to get us to buy a junky vehicle they said it does pass emissions even if they told me when I gone in there it doesn't. They will play games just to get you in there and then lie to you once you get to the dealership. BEWARE DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP THEY WILL DO FRAUD. More
