Though we know how certain vehicles are made and what options they have, if a customer states that their lights are no longer working, we have to diagnose their concerns. I bought the truck 5 months ago and don't drive at night. On this occasion there appeared to be no light illuminating the shifter. When I called the dealer ship, I stated that I did not see any illumination on the shifter. The dealer claims that I said "the lights no longer work", I did not. After the technician spent a half hour, he determined that there is no light function on the shifter column. I was charged for the 1/2 to the tune of $70.00 and they claimed that they had to check it out as I requested they do so, Again I stated to them that there appears to be a light out and requested that they look into it. I contend that the Ford tech should have known that the truck did not have a light and that I should not be charged for a learning moment for him and the dealership. I should not be charged as if the tech was truly up on the vehicle I should have been told that they don't have a light. There's no need to check it out. I was called by the dealership after my initial complaint, and was given there same lame excuse that they are required to look into the problem of the light. If the dealership tech should have known that no light exists, and therefore no need for a 1/2 hour of labor for which I was charged. I was told by the dealer that they could net reimburse me for the $70.00. If they were truest concerned about their reputation, given the circumstances I should have been refunded.
