Morrie's Grand Ledge Ford responded

On August 19th 2015 customer called Grand Ledge Ford Lincoln’s service department and spoke with James Bennett. Customer indicated that her 2007 Ford Explorer had been overheating while in Colorado. She had a new thermostat housing, water pump with hoses replaced costing her $900.00. It was also noted that there were miss-fire codes during that visit on their repair invoice. On her return trip to Michigan she continued to have overheating issues. She brought vehicle in to Grand Ledge for Lincoln on August 20, 2015 for diagnosis of the overheating issue. Preliminary inspection indicated a blown head gasket due to excessive heat damage to engine, Estimate was written for re-manufactured engine and customer approved engine replacement of $6100.00 on August 20th 2015. Engine was ordered on August 20th, Customer called back on August 21st 2015 and had received an estimate for $5400.00 from Candy Ford. To earn her business we discounted our estimate after she had already approved $6100.00 to $5800.00. That estimate was approved. The customer then call back after a few hours and was declining repairs again. We than agreed to meet the Candy Ford price of $5400.00. Once the engine arrived the work was completed of the engine replacement. After the engine replacement the vehicle was road tested and post road test inspection indicated that the radiator was found to be leaking from the tank seam on the left side of the radiator. The customer was advised and approved installation of a new radiator. Additional $498.71. Work completed and vehicle tested well. Total price of $5940.60 at time of pick up the customer requested the water pump and thermostat housing from the old engine. Parts were still on the old engine due to them being part of the core and are to be sent back with the core assembly. A new thermostat housing and water pump came on the new engine. The hoses were reused as they are not part of the engine assembly. We agreed to remove them per the customer wish and customer was agreed to give us until to give us end of the week to pick up. Customer called in September 3rd to see if parts were available for picked up and was told yes. Old parts were picked up on September 4,2015.
