1) Vehicle was being repaired for 5 weeks… It was clear our vehicle was not a priority to expedite the process. 2) For the majority of the five weeks if I got an update, I had to show up in person becau our vehicle was not a priority to expedite the process. 2) For the majority of the five weeks if I got an update, I had to show up in person because my phone calls were not returned most of the time. 3) I asked for a full assessment prior to fixing because I didn’t want to spend too much money. They finally fixed the original problem but then afterwards they identified another problem that would not pass inspection. So now if I wanted it to pass inspection, I have to pay more than twice what I originally agreed. I told service rep if I knew this ahead of time I wouldn’t have done the original repairs. I would have not fixed it at all and traded it in. It is clear that they are understaffed and over worked. I’m sure they are nice people but my experience was not good at all. I would not buy a car there or get any additional service. More
Dan's performance has been incredibly frustrating. He often interrupts and doesn't listen to concerns. Despite my repeated requests for a tire rotation during multiple visits, it was never done because he claimed it wasn't necessary. Now, I'm facing the need for new tires. Most recently, I brought my car in for front brake service, which I agreed to pay for. However, when I went to settle the bill, I discovered that the rear brakes were replaced without my consent, while the front brakes, which were the source of the noise, were ignored. I ended up having to replace the front brakes myself, wasting $800. On the other hand, Ryan has been a great help. Dan’s approach is detrimental to the department’s reputation. I’m now dealing with another issue that should be covered, but Dan seems indifferent. When I asked to speak to a manager, he refused to let me. New management should take note of these concerns. More

I recently got my 2016 golfsportswagon waterpump replaced and he called my extended warranty provider and explained everything that was being done to the car and how it was covered. This may seem silly but after going to mid hudson volkswagen and having the service person refuse to call and xx me about what my problem was I am glad I drove 40 min out of my way to Compass. Thank you again Ryan and I be back for my oil change. More
Extremely rude,arrogant, and unprofessional service dept. The service manager was the worse of them. He didn't return 2 of my phone calls. When I called back another guy answered and he hung up on me for no reason. The service dept needs a lesson in customer service. This isnt the first time the manager was rude to a customer. After the oil change, I asked if they checked to make sure everything was tight, the lazy slob service attendant said "no" because I said I didn't want to pay for alignment and it's not covered under warranty. I had to tell the slob that it was covered if it was a manufacturing issue! I have a family you slob! How hard would that of been! Your lucky I restrained myself!!! I'll never do business with compass vw in Middletown ny again! Be smart- go somewhere else. They are the reason dealers have a bad name! I wouldn't trust these people with your family! More

If it will be an overnight stay, they offer a loaner if one is available. I imagine anyone who has paid even a dollar more than they figure they should have will give any service department a bad rating. Go find out for yourself. More
Poor customer service with attitude I bought a Passat SEL from Compass and the sales experience was fine. The next step was the service dept. First 2 services appointments had the car returned with grease stains on door handle and black kick marks on moldings. Next service the NAV unit had to be replaced and the tech scratches the console while replacing it. Dan asks incredulously If I was looking for a new part? I state I'd like them to repair the damage they caused, however they don't fix it. Next visit the NAV unit freezes up and they return it still not working so back I go. Next time I bring it in for broken AC which they diagnose as blown blower. It's taking over a week to get the replacement part...so now I have a car that I can't drive in steaming humid weather because there is no defogger. The service dept needs a big upgrade More

On top of this, they leave their dirty shop gloves in the car, and the headliner is dirty of grease. Did nothing but stare at me, when I showed them that they made it dirty. Complained to manager Jeff Neckers and he asked as to why do we come to the dealership if I am not satisfied. Simply told us to go somewhere else. Has very poor customer service skills, does not care about the customer and on top of that they also mock their customers. VW of America take notice of this. Don't be fooled by the high star rating. Most are simply friends and family. More

FIrst was gouging my wheel (19" audi) on the side of their building and next was ripping one of my foglights out of it's mount (tech glued the broken bulb back in place). The one other big item... they billed VW for a service that wasn't done on my car. I did the 10k service myself and they billed VW for it - and admitted it. Pretty much blew me off when I questioned them on it. Think I'll try Newton VW instead. *** 8/2016 UPDATE*** I've used Hudson Valley VW for some work since this review. I saw bad reviews for Newton NJ and Hudson Valley VW is closer. So far so good... Normal routine of bring it in to confirm a part is bad, then order and come in a second time for the install. But - fixed right the first time and nothing broken on the car!!! Since it was cold out at the time, they gave me a coupon to use down the road at an actual car wash (unlike Compass that washes about 70% of the car). I've also now seen one of the Compass Service advisors over at Middletown Nissan so keep that in mind! More
