Odometer Fraud So according to the bill of sale I received from the dealership, I purchased a used 2010 Chevrolet Equinox with 105,002 miles on it on 3/7/2020. I pai So according to the bill of sale I received from the dealership, I purchased a used 2010 Chevrolet Equinox with 105,002 miles on it on 3/7/2020. I paid half of it by debit card and would pay the rest and pick up the car on 3/8. Sounds great on paper, but there's a problem later on. I picked up the car and it wasn't until I took it in to be given a full inspection at a local auto shop that I was informed the odometer now read 121,263 miles. I contacted the salesperson I worked with, Jessica Lewis, and was informed that she too witnessed this strange change when she drove my car to me at the dealership back on 3/8. Between the day I purchased it and the day I picked it up, the mileage went up by about 16,000 miles behind my back. When I tried to complain about it today on 3/13/2020, I was informed by Jessica and her manager that there was nothing I could do to resolve this issue other than to fill out a second Odometer Disclosure Statement so that the title doesn't get delayed due to fraud. The dealership had literally no explanation as to how the discrepancy happened in the first place. I have filed a complaint with the Indiana Attorney General's office, and will reaching out to a few private attorneys this weekend. More
