It's a task that needs to be done to find a solid, dependable vehicle that meets my needs. However, buying from Chaplin's was a pleasant evening out. I did a lot of my own research online comparing the variety of options out there, checking Blue Book, comparing prices, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, when I found what looked like a "great deal," I researched the ACTUAL CAR LOT selling the vehicle. If you are serious about finding a good vehicle, this is a must do. When I did, I quickly was able to eliminate the "better deals" because there were multiple terrinble rating reviews about those car lots and their shady ways of doing business. However, this was not the case when I researched Chaplin's Bellevue. Everyone raved about Chaplin's honesty, integrity, friendly service, great prices, and quality vehicles. I called Chaplin's on the vehicle I found online and was welcomed by Todd Withey. I was very direct in what I was expecting out of the used vehicle I was looking for, and I asked him to do a personal visit to the vehicle before I arrived. I was driving from 2 hours away and didn't want to waste my time. Todd returned my call after inspecting the vehicle and reported the most minor things about it. I knew exactly what to expect. I imagine these guys receive a commission, but if so, you wouldn't know it by their behavior. They are just there to show you what they have to offer and offer the best deal. What a refreshing change from car shopping. When I arrived, the car was in the lot just outside the showroom and was running. We inspected it, took it for a spin, and made the offer. They were very quick and efficient to process things. While my dad waited in the showroom with his dog, the other salesmen/women were greeting him and were very friendly overall. And I mean GENUINELY friendly, not that nasty, sleazy, pushy salesman phony friendly. The entire office was incredibly professional and didn't waste a moment of our time. We arrived at 3:30, completed the sale, went next door to eat dinner while they did some detail work and gassed it up, and we were on the road to home before 6:00. If I could give this place 6 STARS, I would. I highly recommend them. They are well worth the drive. Thanks, Todd Withey, for giving me a car shopping experience that didn't cause me migraines and was actually very pleasant. I hope you are still there in 10 years when I am ready to purchase again. We got the price and lease terms we wanted, with no games or haggling that I've experienced at other dealerships. In fact, this has to be quickest, most painless car lease I have ever done in my life. Since the purchase, Mary Ann has followed up twice with a phone call to make sure everything was good with my new car. I love my new GTI and working with Mary Ann was a joy. I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend her and Chaplin's to all of my friends and family. We'll be back next year to get my wife a new car! More
"BZ" was GREAT!!! I am not your typical car buyer. I do a lot of research about the vehicle(s) I am looking at buying. Hence, when I am ready to look at purchasing a ca I am not your typical car buyer. I do a lot of research about the vehicle(s) I am looking at buying. Hence, when I am ready to look at purchasing a car, I reach out to local dealerships via Internet requests/inquiries to see if the car I want is readily available on the lot or at least a similar car I can look at. With Chaplin's VW, I was contacted by "BZ", their Internet Sales Manager (now he is a Finance Manager), who communicated and treated me like an adult and who's wants really mattered. He did not pressure me to come in ASAP. He offered to meet with me when it was convenient for me. When I came in, he treated me like a friend who was looking for information on a car. There was no pressure to buy right then and there. In fact, "BZ" offered to allow me to test drive another car in the model I was looking at (as the one I wanted was not available), while he did an inquiry on what would be offered for my current vehicle while. Again, there was no pressure. "BZ" even told me he would understand if I needed time to think about buying. The whole buying process was painless for me. I would highly recommend buying a vehicle for Chaplin's. More
Haven't decided what to purchase yet, however Christian was very helpful in finding the Jetta on the lot which I was looking for, and answered all of my questions! Just visit their service department to check on the noise on my VW Tourag 2006. I met Kent Chaplin, the owner, at the service department and him and Mike were great, I spent only 35 minutes while they fixed on my VW Tourag 2006. The owner should be very proud of his employees like Mike. Highly recommend this place A++++++++.? More
Held our '06 Passat for a week before even diagnosing it -- wrongly. The car is under the full warranty, with only 33K on it. The check engine light came on; engine missing. Replaced the coil. No joy. R -- wrongly. The car is under the full warranty, with only 33K on it. The check engine light came on; engine missing. Replaced the coil. No joy. Replaced the catalytic converter. Now they say a fuel injector is bad, and another two day wait for parts. They will have had this car 12 full days by Thursday, when it is promised. I don't expect it will run properly then, either. They have all the modern equipment, but cannot properly diagnose a problem. I believe their techs are not properly trained or certified. In the 20+ years I worked in the car business during my youth, this would rate as the most stunning display of complete incompetence ever. On top of that, there is a very rude "take it or leave it" attitude. They just don't care, they don't initiate phone calls, they don't update you -- you have to call them. Even the loaner car we were given after two bad rental cars broke down! I'm just sick of this nightmare. This car goes the minute it comes out of the dealership. I just want rid of it so I don't have to talk to these people again. And, I value getting to where I'm going. More
I bought a 2006 Jetta TDI at Chaplin and when bringing it in for routine maintenance, they identified a flywheel problem (at about 40,000 miles). Though there was no apparent damage to the clutch other than in for routine maintenance, they identified a flywheel problem (at about 40,000 miles). Though there was no apparent damage to the clutch other than normal wear, they were proactive in suggesting clutch replacement (without any labor charge since they already had to R&R the transmission). The replacement was suggested to eliminate possible future labor cost when normal wear indicated the need. They provided a loaner car, discounted the replacement clutch parts, and gave me status reports on progress during the tear down, inspection and reassembly process. The car was returned very quickly, running perfectly and clean. I don't have any reason to write this review other than to let future customers know that if they deal with Boris (the Service Manager), they will liekly be happy as I am. More
I generally do not believe that anything in rating systems deserve the absolute worse or absolute best in any rating, unless they were truely above and beyond. However this place was just terrible in systems deserve the absolute worse or absolute best in any rating, unless they were truely above and beyond. However this place was just terrible in almost every aspect. 02 VW Passat w/ 40k miles. Customer Service - While they attempted to shine their fake smiles in my direction, I felt that every question I asked was bothersome to answer. I just wana know facts about my car have knowledge for future problems and errors. Not only that but they told me to wait for a shuttle and it would only be 15 min. Being before work the shuttle actually took 45 minutes to come and I was greatly late for work. Quality of Work - The quality of work was terrible and I still speculate and believe to this day that they created more problems then there was. I took the car in for it's "major" 40k tune-up. I had an engine light on which I had asked for the problem to be replaced. They wanted to do a diag for another 95$, which boggles me you would think on a major tune they would diag ne how. Needless to say when the car came out the engine light was still on they said it would go off when in fact it never did and when i took it for emissions it failed, yes at 40k miles, with a completely different code and problem. My mind they fixed what i asked but created a completely unrelated issue. After must web research I found 3 others who had their car 40k tuned and the same problem occured with their car after the dealership "tuned" it. Friendliness - I gave this a 2 because they were great at fake friendliness, but they still looked down on you and you just would feel they are deep frying your soal w/ their dimeaning looks. The part that brought it up a point was, when the Shuttle actually came the Driver was probably the coolest most friendly and helping guy. Heck he is the Dealerships friendliness. I also must give Boris the service manager a bit of points as he tried, i just think they are brain-washed to feed you crap. Overall Experience - I spent 700$ w/ them only for them to creat another 700$ worth of problems. Come on people my car has 40k miles it shouldn't be failing emissions. Also I asked them to replace a few things they only replaced half of those pieces. Overall... really... I am livid and stressed beyond belief. However, I did take the car there thinking that more problem would arise, just to prove my theory, and well they had one shot and missed. Congratz Chaplins! You have slaughtered VW and Subaru's name. Pricing - It's a dealership... They are always expensive. They did quote me 800$ to replace one little piece of chrome trim, explaining i would have to buy the whole strip and get it paint match ect... when in reality i can just get the chrome piece. Also the fact that I spent 700$ on a tune-up for them to screw-up to me would have brought it all the way down to 1 point. But their actual bill rate an hour is equivellent to quite a few others out there, being a dealership. They bill at 97$ /hr, should you find to go there, and other places range from 85-93$ /hr depending on reputation. All in all make your own calls, should you go I wish you luck! I truely do. I am 26 and I feel that they are prob alot more kind to older people, but hey maybe its cuz they don't ask questions or put up as much of a fight... i really don't know.. I think it's cuz they feel they can take them for more. After all what are the gonna get out of a kid w/ no money? heheh little do they know :-P More
I have used Chaplin's since 2002 and purchased 2 new and 2 used in that time. The sales and service staff have always treated me wonderfully, even when I have had a no notice emergency repair. Aaron in serv 2 used in that time. The sales and service staff have always treated me wonderfully, even when I have had a no notice emergency repair. Aaron in service and Ben Fleming (sales manager) bend over backwards to take care of me. No, I am not related to anyone there or even good friends with anyone, other than the way they make me feel like I'm family. I bypass the VW dealer in my town (Auburn) to go to Bellevue. It's not convenient, but for me it's worth the trip. Nick Chaplin even gave me his demo car one day when I had a car problem and no loaners were available. Two big thumbs up! More
Their technician lost OBD port dust cover upon diagnosing "Check Engine Light". Upon next unschedule repair (covered under factory warranty), I asked to replace the missing cover. Upon completion of repa "Check Engine Light". Upon next unschedule repair (covered under factory warranty), I asked to replace the missing cover. Upon completion of repair and receipt of the car, I noticed the cover had no been replaced, I was told to come back and talk to Aaron (service consultant) who left the office. It took THREE REMINDER CALLS on my part before Michelle finally left me a message that the part was ready for installtion. I called in to thank her & offer part pick up only (it's plug & play), but instead what I received was unnpleasant & hurried reply, I lost my chance & will to thank her. I also noticed while in the waiting room, service employee speaking ill about a cusomer inspecting his beloved Toureg, as if it is a bad thing to inspect his own car after service. They do not understand why VW drivers drive VWs. The word "customer service" do not exist in their service dept. VW may want drivers, but in this dealership DRIVER ARE NOT WANTED. I will go to Campbell Nelson, which has much better service, from now on. More
