The dealership in general is a very friendly place to visit where everyone is very friendly and professional. Between the service team that I had a very nice experience with and the salespeople who alway visit where everyone is very friendly and professional. Between the service team that I had a very nice experience with and the salespeople who always make you feel comfortable and assist you with any needs or answer your questions in a very professional easy way, I felt like a proud member of Mercedes and got attached to this place and defiantly will be back for my future purchase or service to the 2 cars I currently have. I needed to have a mechanical issue corrected as MB of Reno did not address it correctly. I brought my 2011 SLS in for its annual service the beginning of March. I also asked that they update the software for the transmission to the latest version. The service advisor was not aware of an up beginning of March. I also asked that they update the software for the transmission to the latest version. The service advisor was not aware of an updated transition software but I gave him the documents and coverage numbers. He looked it up and since the car has always been serviced and Mercedes saw that the updated never been done. He pointed out to me that the software may not improve the transmission markedly. I told him I understand that, but since it’s the updated software let’s make sure it gets installed. After about 10 days I got a call that the software has been updated on the transmission but now the transmission is not behaving properly. He said that they had reached out to Mercedes-Benz corporate and are now reaching out to AMG in Germany who is ask them to send some readings from the transmission. About a week later I got another call telling me that AMG is telling them that the transmission control module needs to be replaced at the cost of $9500. The service advisor further said that if it was him he would just replace the whole transmission for approximately $14,000. Clearly something went wrong with the install. I was a bit confused, how could an authorized Mercedes dealer install an authorized Mercedes transmission update, Break some thing, and then ask the customer to pay to fix it. After extremely spotty communication I was able to get a hold of the service manager, who said there is no goodwill that can be applied in this case, and that I have no choice but to pay to fix my car that was broken under their care. He said since I had asked them to update the software, and the software was not necessary, that I’m responsible for the cost of repairing the car. I asked him if I could have my car back in the same condition that I left it with them? And he said no there’s no way to reverse the transmission software to its original state. After almost 2 months of having my car there I finally got a flatbed to pick the car up. I don’t trust that they know what to do with the car, they broke my car, and now they want me to pay to fix it. If I need to pay to fix the car, I’d rather pay someone else. That’s the whole story, draw your own conclusions. More
