I like to work with Alan: He is extremely friendly, straight forward, and give me the entire price structure, and let me choose. 12 hours after settling in Long Island I noticed a sizable bubble in my sidewall of my tire, I figured I would give Smithtown a call considering it was the closest to my new place. Saturday at 9 a.m. I called to check the restraints of my tire warranty and let them know I was coming in. A nattitude ridden woman answered the phone. I explained to her I was new to the area, had to drive 200 miles Monday morning, I had a tire warranty and needed a new tire. She told me they were completely booked and there was nothing she could do to help, she could give me the number to Roadside Assistance to put my spare on, and then sent my call to the Parts Department so I could check on my own tire. 1. I could not drive safely 200 miles on the highway with a spare. 2. I have to check myself if you have the tire I need? I supplied the tire size and brand, just never had to do that myself with Mercedes. After speaking with Parts learning the tire was in stock I decided to just drive in. When I get there I pull in and a gentleman came over and greeted me and showed me his appointment list to try and find me on there, mind you it is now 10 a.m. , 6 appointments for the rest of the day.... putting on an 18 inch tire takes 45 minutes. My dealership back in Boston had 2 Advisors and 4 techs on Saturdays and took 20-25 appointments. So after sitting in the waiting room alone for 2.5 hours I finally was able to leave. I was blatently LIED to on the phone by your "customer service" representative. I have owned and serviced Honda, Acura and Volvo and had not had a negative Mercedes experience until this day. If I called demanding a loaner, or had an attitude or did not know what I was talking about I would understand the reaction I had recieved. I was a new customer who had an emergency, had all my information ready and was trying to establish Smithtown as my new dealer. I guess because I have not being giving them my money for years I was not a priority. I am disgusted by the lazyness, lack of caring and rudeness I recieved from the "customer service" rep who customers have inital contact with. Dealers like this are why Mercedes-Benz is ranked so low with customer satisfaction. More
Jay Tekin was my Sales Consultant at Mercedes Benz of Smithtown and he took great care of me. He is very enthusiastic about the Mercedes brand and has a great deal of product knowledge. I don't like it when I know more than the sales rep about a car or any item I am looking to buy, and I didn't have that problem with Jay. He knew every detail about the car I was interested in and I didn't have to do a lot of my own research after my first visit. That is important when you want to make an informed decision about a big purchase. Everyone at the dealership was friendly and courteous and the purchase went smoothly. The thoughtful gift in the trunk was a really nice finishing touch when I drove away in my new car. I recommend Jay Tekin and MB of Smithtown to anyone shopping for a Mercedes that wants first class service. More
