You see for over 16 years I have been a customer of Tracy Honda. My dear friend and sales manger had retired after I bought a Mercedes E550 from him. I was Looking for a luxury car as I am a Realtor and the E550 is actually a luxury sports sedan having the AMG package. Well after 3 years and 85k miles later decided it was time to get an SUV. I was actually going to buy from Mercedes of Pleasanton, until I sent a request for info to Mercedes of Modesto. Right away Al replied giving me an option sheet to review what the 2017-2018 GL and GLS had. I was upfront with Al about having to find a new dealership and manager to work with and was very cautious. Al went out of his way to help and be available. I pulled up one afternoon later than planned and was only going to meet him and just see the GLS, GLE and GLC. We hit it off and he was to patient and kind supposed to be off at 5, I left close to 6. He did not rush me. Few days later I was ready to make a decision and buy either the new 2020 GLE 350 or the GLC 350. Again lIttle later than I planned my wife and I arrived. Al was outside had the 2020 GLE I had inquired on ready to go. AC on and the interior was cool as it was quite warm out at 1:30pm. We test drive the GLE then GLC. The GLC was just a little small for me the GLE with all the options I wanted was perfect. Thinking I was going to start with Al then have him go back and forth with a sales manager to finally make a deal...he and I did it all in his office. He honored the price I had expected to get, even though the price I printed was a week old. I got exactly what I wanted or needed on my E550 trade and then he went to work with me watching him on financing. We discussed what banks to send my app to and received a couple offers back, choosing 1. A team had taken the GLC to get it ready for me and my wife to drive off one young Mann Dylan knew the vehicle well, yet they only had a couple on the lot as it’s a 2020 and did not have a huge selection, he knew it well and showed me all around the MBUX system. He was awesome. Then the team helped remove my things from the E550 and put into the GLE. This was exactly the service I wanted yet did not expect it. They made me feel like I was the only customer. It was late by the time I drove off inn. Wednesday afternoon after 6 and Al should have been gone at 5 again stayed to be sure my wife and I were getting exceptional service I was so impressed I actually want to work there... maybe part time, on call that’s how amazing this experience was. The GLE is amazing. This is an awesome SUV. Fun, extremely comfortable and the gas mikes on the 4 cylinder turbo is fantastic. More

Should have given me more info about issue up front. Brought to appointment 10:30 Friday morning. Expected to leave for several hours. Issue required overnight to finish, but Saturday could not reach agent...finally told in the afternoon that it wouldn’t be ready until at least Monday. Very gracious about providing me a loaner, but that should have been done Friday evening with realization of scope of problem. I wouldn’t have had to wait around, calling in on Saturday several times. When Saturday has a skeleton service crew, the issue requires time and ordered parts to repair, AND agent knows he will be off, it would have been more expedient to arrange a loaner Friday evening... Issue with car completely rectified with car ready Wednesday afternoon. Am very pleased with work done as well as all employees in service department being professional, friendly, courteous and helpful. ONLY reason not 5 stars is keeping me waiting around...communication error... More

I feel sorry for Stephen Michaels, a friendly service writer who is professional well but is working at an extremely dysfunctional service department. The exorbitant costs involved with repair service writer who is professional well but is working at an extremely dysfunctional service department. The exorbitant costs involved with repair service at Modesto European is ridiculous at best and it seems any service rendered always comes up to $2,000. On every occasion except one, our GL450 was returned with scratches. When brought to their attention, I was made to feel as though I brought the car knowing the scratches were already there! No reasonable solution was offered to fix the damage and so I made arrangements with a body shop on my own and paid for the repairs myself. This happened twice. One time I drove away after paying for repairs only to learn that the original problem still existed indicating extremely poor service work. I drove away on another occasion only to find that pieces taken off the car had not been re-installed. Never once have I been offered the old parts that have been replaced that were supposedly bad, which is illegal. State law dictates that all old parts are to be returned to the owner. I guess Modesto European is above the law or perhaps providing 'bad' or replaced parts may be uncomfortable for them and belie their M. O. I vowed I would never return but unfortunately, while within just a few miles of the dealership, our M/B began sputtering and engine light went on. I reluctantly took it in to them. I was told that the "valve solenoids" were suspect and I didn't have to replace them but if I chose not to then I could expect the "check engine" light to go on sporadically. Some other parts could be at fault as well(could be?!) I was told and sure enough, the cost is about $2,000 again. The car has been with them for about a week now but I am assured that as soon as the necessary gizmo comes in from Germany my car will be as good as new. I wonder if that includes the body work that will undoubtedly be needed due to more scratches? More
I own a Mercedes that I've brought to this dealership a few times. Each time it was brought in, I never left the business without paying at least 2K. Be as it may, I called the dealership in the hopes of speaking to a sales agent concerning a particular Mercedes that a friend of mine was seriously considering buying. What a mistake! To make a long story short, it took forever for the phone to be answered and when it finally was a customer service agent told me that there were no sales agents to speak to - what?? We're considering buying a 100K car and theres no one to talk to?? I hang up. I call back and speak to the same representative and she says, "Hold on .." Transfers me to some sales agent's (with an english accent) phone voice mail. Again I hang up. I call back again (don't know why at this point) and tell her to stop transferring me to phone voice mail at which she says, "Ha, he was just there". The phone rings forever, at which point I hung up. This dealership missed out on a "huge" sale. But that's Ok, because judging on the level of service I was afforded, they must be doing extraordinary sales and didn't need our patronage. To conclude, I will not revisit this dealership nor would I recommend it to any of my colleagues or associates. It just amazes me when we're in the times that we're in, and this type of service is presented. More
